That was somber. Probably as close as Rueck will ever get to being snarky too.

That was somber. Probably as close as Rueck will ever get to being snarky too. In a completely different mode, but Scott is an expert in understated snarkiness with officials. His comments are quite glib and direct at times. Thought for sure he was getting T'd on one exchange. But, after the official gave him the hand signal to shut it... he stopped. But, he can wax poetic when he wants to.

Every year Mik goes through a slump about 2/3 of the way into the season. Each year it's gotten shorter so lets hope this years version is now ended. "That "foul" on Pivec was a complete flop by Prechtel who fouled Pivec first with an elbow across her face, and then threw herself to the ground AFTER Pivec was by her. Should have been a technical for flopping." As I saw it during the game Prechtel stumbled, grabbed Mik from behind to keep from going down and Mik, who only knew she had been grabbed from behind, shoved off from Prechtel. I think they both fouled in the strictest sense, but I don't think what either did effected the game play and the ref's should have just left their whistles in their pockets. But someone who can replay the game might be able to say otherwise. Kiana found a weak spot in the Beav's defense in close and got three open shots she nailed. Then the Beav's closed that off. Beav's were really missing Katie at the end. Why did Kat take the last shot? Both Mik and Destiny had done OK from the 3 and Kat hadn't hit a thing this game. Out of the 4 senior/junior guards if just one more besides Destiny had even an decent game the Beav's win this game. Let's hope we get at least one other "on" against the Ducks next week. Katie isn’t on the team. How can a miss a player that already played her career?

Just an opinion from a basketball non-expert, but it seems like when we play teams like Stanford and ASU we play at their tempo/style instead of our own?!?! I really believe we are better than both if the ladies play their own game! Sometimes the other team's D forces the issue and it is tough to break free of it and get the tempo right. The problem I have with that is that we have the same opportunity to force our tempo on them. I guess I just don't think they are better than our team.

"Katie isn’t on the team. How can a miss a player that already played her career?" You never miss anyone? Huh, well I do sometimes.

There are times when I wish OSU's defense forced more TOs. I know that's not what they are predicated on, but one could hope.

I would just like to see more passing and less dribbling especially when trying to split a double team. Also we need better attempts when the shot clock gets below 10 seconds. Looking forward to watching this team improve and battle in the ncaa tournament.

Everyone needs to remember, we want a PAC-12 Championship, but we want an NCAA Championship more. I liked the way we played today. Stanford is a fine team, and the PAC-12 race is still wide open. We are not out of this at all. There is a lot of negativity on this board. Why can't we take two from the Ducks? If we do, we are back in this baby! GO BEAVS!

That was just one of many non-calls that the home team usually gets in this league. Their PG should have fouled out of the game in the first half for all the slapping and banging she was dishing out. She wasn't called for her first foul until the half was nearly over, and she had already banged Destiny 2 or 3 times at the top of key on the same possession. The ref basically had to call the foul because it was getting stupid how much she was trying to run our ball handler off her line 24 feet from the basket. It is what it is, but it is ridiculous that the away team is allowed to bang, and the home team is called for fouls for trying to match the same aggression. I will bguarantee you this. WE will NOT be allowed to be anywhere close to as physical with Stanford when we play them down there. If we pressure and reach like they were in this game down there I guarantee the refs will wear out their whistles on us. Advocating for homer calls from the refs at Gill is priceless. Because the game is about different officiating depending on where the game is played is in the true spirit of basketball. We lost. Deal with it. I will "deal" just fine. I simply want a fair shake. That's ALL I'm talking about

And why don't we push the ball when we have numbers in the front court. It is so much easier to score 3 v. 2 than it is 5 v. 5. We consistently slow it up and look to Coach Rueck for the play call, even when we have an advantage going up court.

Looking forward to watching this team improve and battle in the ncaa tournament. It appears that the team goes through periods where the bing-bing-bing passing to an open player (of recent times, including last season), has evolved into to dribble-dribble-dibble, back-in on the player guarding you, followed by an often futile drive toward the hoop, followed by a iffy pass to a player that is often not set/open for a high percentage shot attempt. Or worse yet a shot clock near-violation avoided only by a wild shot. It ain't Rueck Beaver WBB at it's best - that's for sure.

Sorry folks that's flagrant... to the neck and head region. VERY VERY uncharacteristic loss of composure. OSU lucked out there. If you are referring to Pivec's foul after clearing the rebound, there was no elbow and nothing flagrant there. Saw the replay several times. Lots of frustration culminated in that shove. Pivec puts up with more illegal contact than anyone else on the team based upon her ability to rebound and the fact that she has to play other team's 3s and 4s and is required to set lots of screens. Watch what happens when a shot goes up, Pivec takes so much more illegal contact than she dishes out.

I was more thinking along the lines of "I wonder how Carol would do against these modern players?". But that's me.

There are times when I wish OSU's defense forced more TOs. I know that's not what they are predicated on, but one could hope. I know it's not an element of the defense Rueck likes to coach, but OSU is ranked #346 out of 348 D-1 teams in forced turnovers and #331 in turnover margin. It would help them get some easier transition baskets, and help mitigate the turnover differential OSU has against most teams if they could change this up a bit. Unfortunately, this seems to be a characteristic of Rueck's teams, for whatever reason.
