This is the biggest scandal since....
Pete Rose lifetime ban Or The Patriots stealing signs from the Jets Or George Brett and the pinetar bat Or The Chicago Black Sox scandal Or The worst ever because it directly impacted the game.

GM and Hinch were both fired.... Fired because they cheated or fired because they got caught.

GM and Hinch were both fired.... Fired because they cheated or fired because they got caught. Caught and team heavily penalized. Guessing MLB suggested worse punishments unless firings were made?!

In the old days, we stole signs the right way. Runner on second peeking in and just plain eyeballing coaches in the boxes/dugouts and 2B/SS relaying to OFs.

When you are talking about the Holy Grail of baseball... The World Series... they got punished but not enough. There is no way they should not be stripped of the 2017 title.Don't award it to the Dodgers because they didn't win it.Leave it vacant.
Been a Dodger fan since the 1955 Boys of Summer.Had it been them instead of the Astros who cheated,I never root for them again. The players are just as culpable as the front office and manager.I hope the Astros get booed out of every park this year....

Waaaaaaay too light of a penalty, IMHO. 5 million dollars is pocket lint to a MLB team. Astros are values at 2 BILLION dollars for crying out loud. They paid many multiple of 5 million dollars just in dead salary on a team that won the world series. Every team in baseball would gladly pay an extra 5 million to win a world series. The fact that the punishment did START with stripping the world series title from them is ridiculous. This cheating was WAY worse than any cheating I can think of in baseball history, even more so that the Black Sox. Way worse than Rose, Bond, Steroids, juiced bats, juiced balls, etc. The punishment that SHOULD have been handed out: - $250 million fine, accessed over 10 years, basically for the next ten years they get to play with the handicap of paying their best player, "Cheater McCheatingStein", like the super star he is.
- Jeff Luhnow, A.J. Hinch, Alex Cora, and every other coach on that team should get a lifetime ban. Heck I wouldn't even let them coach little league or play slow pitch
- Lost draft picks is fine.
- Every player on that team gets that entire years worth of stats removed from their careers, and rings taken of course.
- Owner should be focred to sell the team.

you left out burn they crops & salt the fields I do agree too light on the penalties. I would do lifetime ban Cora, Hinch & GM Apparently 5 million is most MLB can fine team...but I agree should be higher 1st & 2nd round picks is fine I think I would be ok with revoking the WS championship every player on the Astros get 1 minute in the trash can that was signally signs. Every Dodger gets 1 minute of batting practice

I read that Judge just deleted an old tweet congratulating him for winning.

I'm OK with the punishment for the most part. Though not official, Hinch & GM basically have the equivalent of an NCAA "Show Cause" wherein MLB basically won't let them work in the game for a while. The report does make it pretty clear though that those two weren't directly involved, they just didn't put a stop to it. Cora is going to get hammered in due course after bringing shenanigans to Boston.
I would've added: taking away HOU vote on MLB proposals at Winter meetings, rules committees, etc. for maybe 4 years. And make every one of their players arbitration eligible immediately, hit 'em in the wallet.

You want to punish those responsible... want to punish those who directly had knowledge, but did nothing to stop it... want to send a message to ownership that is supposedly in control. But, MLB also doesn't want to damage their own product too badly while sending this message. It's just the way biz is done. If you want to really get picky, MLB knew this was going on during the 2017 season. There were widespread reports and many baseball insiders actually joked about it publicly, and yet MLB waited and they just now finish the investigation?! I am positive they could have sent an immediate "message" sometime during the 2017 season that would have curtailed the activity. I am always for tiered punishments... who actually planned it? carried it out each game? when was it known and who let it continue... team, management, ownership, MLB? I guess what I'm seeing is MLB acting as some sort of insulted/surprised party handing down sentences when they themselves let things slide. Where is the MLB exec who let this thing slide for a couple seasons?

I agree. Who thought letting them put a camera directly in center field and then giving players access to that feed in real time was a good idea? Is anyone really surprised by this? It's a bit like buying your 16 year old kid a car, leaving the keys on the counter and then being surprised when they drive it.
