Cora let go by Sox today... didn't know if anyone else saw that!?
Adding to the punishment chatter... other owners seem pissed. Essentially Crane keeps his team, got his championship, keeps all the revenue it generated, claims no knowledge, tries to look good by firing suspended GM and manager... oh, pays $5 mil fine. Yeah to billionaire who probably doesn't pay it out of his own pocket and gets to deduct it?!
Yet in none of his public statements apologizes. May need new PR department!

how to fill a ballpark even if you have a bad team: Declare your home series with Houston "Trash Can Lid" nights, hand out lids, earplugs and put in a whole lot of security and emt's to deal with the later innings, and let the fans slam away.

When you are talking about the Holy Grail of baseball... The World Series... they got punished but not enough. There is no way they should not be stripped of the 2017 title.Don't award it to the Dodgers because they didn't win it.Leave it vacant.
Been a Dodger fan since the 1955 Boys of Summer.Had it been them instead of the Astros who cheated,I never root for them again. The players are just as culpable as the front office and manager.I hope the Astros get booed out of every park this year....
No way can the result of the two World Series be changed, but vacating the titles seems to be a no brainer. Too bad MLB doesn’t have the balls ⚾️⚾️⚾️ to do what’s right. “Hi I’m Joe Blow, I played for the 2017 Houston Astros / 2018 Red Sox. Ya, we were the best cheaters in the league. Great memories, man!” Saw where someone wrote that the Houston club should now be referred to as the Houston Asterisks. Totally agree. So, you think that the players and/or the fans who did not cheat should be punished [vacating the titles].

So, you think that the players and/or the fans who did not cheat should be punished [vacating the titles]. The fans? Honestly that is a ridiculous line of thought to not vacate a title. Fans never “win” anything. They are nothing more than groupies. And, you believe there are players in the clubhouse that weren’t aware of the shenanigans? They may not all have participated, but there’s no way that they weren’t aware of what was going on. No way. Yes, the fans did win something. A team doesn't win anything without butts in seats. They help pay the bills. The turn out and encourage the team to win. "And, you believe there are players in the clubhouse that weren’t aware of the shenanigans? They may not all have participated, but there’s no way that they weren’t aware of what was going on. No way." lol ... you are speculating that players knew what was going on. I know, you'll accuse me of the same. But the Commissioner's Office investigated and found insufficient evidence to justify punishing the players. If you wish I can give to a few books to about establishing guilt and assigning punishment. You might also try a few on logic which could help you avoid such irrational leaps of logic.

Every member of that team should be penalized. They all knew.

So how did the Marlins win in 2003 with average attendance of 16k per game? The fans deserve nothing when their team cheats. And you’re nuts if you think everyone in the organization didn’t know what was going on.

Speculation is not helpful for assigning blame unless, of course, you want to rewrite the notion of guilt and innocence.

Every member of that team should be penalized. They all knew. If they didn't... if they weren't using the system... then was there cheating? No evidence... because, if you punish those who used the system the Stros have no players for 2020.

No evidence... because, if you punish those who used the system the Stros have no players for 2020. They would have players and could field a team. It would not be competative. Thay have minor league teams and FA pools to draw from if need be.

Yeah, I’m sure a bunch guys had no clue why someone was banging a garbage can during at bats. Right.

Everyone in the dugout and in the other dugout knew what was going on. Hell, people don't think umpires could hear, know? There are actually many in MLB that are more pissed that the code of silence was broken than of the cheating. Which by new accounts had been happening in many forms for decades.

Just an example how something can be pointed out without disparaging the original poster. Of course everyone knew. The real reason there is no "punishment" to the players is because of the the strength of th MLBPA.

Without overwhelming evidence punishment of players based on what people "just know" will create a union action, defamation lawsuits, etc. So, I don't care about speculation; I want proof.

If only the garbage can could talk. It would be hard to specifically single out individuals, but at the least the teams should lose their titles.
