Massey gives the Beavs a 68% probability of a win at ASU , winning 64-58. Realtime "Gamer" prediction has OSU by 5, with a 62% chance of the win.
I hope they're right! ASU had always been a tough match-up for us, especially on the road. Hopefully, they'll be a little flat after the emotional come back win over the Ducks.

We've lost 3 straight games to Chari's Devils. Destiny hasn't ever beaten them as a Beaver*. That should be some extra motivation right there.
(*Destiny's 2017 Maryland team beat ASU 83-42 in a non-conference game)

ASU beat us last year at Gill (our only loss there), but they're not as good as last year and we're better. Plus, I think it's just going to be a bitch for them to rekindle that intensity so soon after the win Friday night.
I like our chances.

This will be a tough one. CTT has certainly given Rueck his fair share of struggles in the past, as evidenced by her current three game win streak dating back to the Pac-12 tournament in 2017-18, which gave the Beavs a bit of a much needed wake up call that led them to the Elite 8 that season.
ASU is still the same old ASU. They still win ugly. They're still 10 deep (10 players averaged over 12.2 MPG, and the MPG would be slightly high if Jamie Ruden wasn't on a minutes restriction.
Protecting the ball against ASU's defense will be a major key in this one. Even when we did protect the ball in the first matchup in Corvallis last season (only 7 turnovers, wow.), we still somehow managed to lose because we shot so poorly. Slocum played poorly in both matchups this year, but is a different player this season.
Ruden is a bit of a wild card for ASU. She has all kinds of physical issues and restrictions, but they seemed to have disappeared against UO, and she led them to the win. In other games she's only able to manage a few minutes here and there. Regardless, a very talented stretch forward.
We'll need to knock down some threes and get some inside looks for Jones.

ASU has always been very physical and that has been a big factor in their recent wins versus OSU. That led to turnovers and being beaten on the boards. I think we’ve added two players in Kennedy and Taylor that can match that toughness (an improvement over Jo and Katie in that regard). Officiating (tight or not) and how we take care of the basketball will be big factors. We need to match their ferocity.

Before I opened this thread I said to myself, "Beavers by 7 points" so I'm sticking to that. I expect ASU to trap and apply full court pressure, just like Arizona did on Friday. If OSU can manage 4 fewer turnovers than they did against AZ, hit 75% of their free throws, shoot 40% + from the 3 point line, out rebound ASU by 8, they should be fine. oh, and continue with the same level of defense

After watching the uck/ASU reply I'm going to say this game is no contest... double digit W. Because...
- ucks went thru the motions. From the beginning they seemed dead with short spurts to try and wake up. I like Graves as a recruiter and tactician, but he seemed lost trying to externally motivate this team. The uck team OSU will face beats ASU by 20.
- ASU caught lightening in a bottle. Ucks not emotionally or mentally ready and they literally had players play the game of their season. There were literally 'throws' at the hoop that went in. My guess is they game was their season in terms of playing a great team even. Perfect storm so to speak.
- emotion. ASU will still be living on that hype. If OSU weathers the early hype and stays under control they will pound out a W. OSU will wear down ASU and when the hype wears off ASU will be emotionally spent. Mentally some of them have probably already accepted that a split vs #2 and #3 is a great weekend.
Beavers win by double digits and move to #1. Unfortunately? Fortunately? A cool thing for some reasons, but I've never liked "my team" ranked #1 for many reasons... unless it's after their last game.

I'm all in on being ranked #1. Isn't that what they're playing for? Hell, we all know they're going to lose at some point; conference is just too tough to avoid that. And, when that inevitably happens, someone else will be ranked #1 for a while, and we'll go back to working to get there a second time.
But, for however long it should last, our girls will go through life knowing that, once upon a time, they were considered the best team in the nation. Very few ever get to say that. Plus, when they run out on the floor next Sunday, they can look at big, bad Stanford and say, "One of us is number 1, and it ain't you!"
Finally, I think that 'target on your back' thing is a crock. An outmatched team like USC is going to beat us because they got all fired up to outdo number 1? They're going to pack the Galen Center, add another 10% to the rabid fan base attending, and kick our ass in front of 453?
Bring it all on. It would be a wonderful accomplishment to be 16-0 and ranked number 1 Monday morning.

Being ranked #1 would be very helpful to our recruiting efforts.

I believe other than Maples, Tempe might be one of our hardest away venues (I didn't check our Pauley stats, which I think is another 'not great' venue for us to date) - from the Game Notes: "VS. ARIZONA STATE: Oregon State 27-40 all-time against Arizona State and 8-7 against the Sun Devils during Scott Rueck's tenure. The Beavers won seven-straight matchups from 2014-18, before ASU took the last three." I hope this means we are due. I expect a very hard fought game, with ASU trying to ride the emotion of their upset of uo and hang on to that magic, and us realizing we haven't been that great at Tempe. Hopefully we aren't happy about how turn-over prone we were at UA, because just cleaning that up will give us an edge. And any non-frosh on the team can't have warm fuzzies about ASU game results of late. The amazing season continues...... Go Beavers!

Would love to see osu beat ASU for several reasons...they seem to be our cryptonite the last couple years. Beavs win by three..
Anyone remember being at Gill Coliseum when DePaul lost in 1981 and the announcer made an announcement to the sell out crowd that Osu MBB would move to number 1 in the country? I do...a position we held for 9 weeks. It would be a terrific feather in the cap to Scott Rueck and this program to see OSU rated number 1 in the country come Monday.
We would be so proud of this team to be the highest rated wbb team in the state and the nation. We could all puff our chests out a bit more being the highest rated wbb team in America!

They shot better from both the floor and behind the arc against UCLA, so it wasn’t like they randomly had a good shooting night and took down Oregon as you’re making it out to be. ASU is a very good team, and a much better team when Jamie Ruden is able to play extended minutes as she did against Oregon. I think they lost by two to UCLA and by five to UA. Also, who on ASU played “the game of their season”?

Totally agree. The WBB Beavs have never been # 1. It's a great achievement. Personally, I see no downside to being #1. The idea that some opponent would beat because were # 1, and they wouldn't have beaten us if we were ranked #3, is just plain silly....
But to get to #1 we gotta beat ASU today....I was in Tempe last year and the year before and they are tough, physical and intense....This game will be a great test of our physical toughness. But it will also be a great test of ASU's ability to handle an excellent team with great shooters, a tough defense and Mik Pivec.🏀 GO BEAVS !!
