Didn't get to watch today. Goodman has scored 21 points in the last 5 games. Huh? Hasn't scored in double figures since the Liberty game in Miami. It looked like there was a conscious effort to get Kat going in Hawaii (it worked), now it's Aleah's turn. Definitely need some offense from her as Pac play is starting. I did watch the game. I'm pretty 'un-worried' about AG.

I also noticed that Destiny has not been shooting much lately and much of her scoring is driving to the basket. She did have 9 assists today that included some great passes.

Seemed today that there was very little ball movement around the perimeter by design, and, the game plan was to bring it inside to our BIGs today. CSBU was ready for that, and, double/triple teamed when necessary. It worked a great deal of the time, and often resulted in a missed shot, or, a turnover. Once OSU went with the 4-guard line-up, the ball started to move well, and, we got some transition buckets. Jas Simmons is lighting on the break. She gets down the court faster than anyone I've seen in an OSU uniform. OSU needs to figure out how to get her game going in transition.
Still glad Kat and Jas got some minutes today. We are going to need both of them to play well in PAC-12. Both are showing solid perimeter defense. I think Jas is going to get minutes in PAC-12 play because of her defense. I was all excited when I saw Jelena in warm-ups. She has an awesome mid-range shot. I see very nice skills in Jelena. I hope we get to see her play soon.

The offense seems to flow better with 4 guards and Jones. Jaz needs to drive more, she isn’t needed for her 3 shooting. Hope AG can get out of the funk she seems to be in. We need her!

When Simmons attacks the paint with confidence, she can be effective. I saw her make two turnovers on offense today when she was unsure of what to do after the defense countered her initial move. I would rather she her pull up for a midrange jumper than hesitate and be called for traveling again. That type of indecision has been a limiting factor in the coaching staff's ability to play her significant minutes during her first 1 1/3 seasons as a Beav. She has tools and hopefully will be able to use them as an upperclassman.

I also noticed that Destiny has not been shooting much lately and much of her scoring is driving to the basket. She did have 9 assists today that included some great passes. Slocum took 17 shots against BYU last game, but only 7 today. Tudor and Jones took 12 shots each today. Slocum takes an average of 10.8 shots per game, the most on the team. Both Pivec (9.8) and Jones (9.2) are currently shooting less than 10 times per game. All three of those players score very efficiently given the limited number of field goals that they attempt per game. Ball movement around the perimeter appeared to be sluggish and once again there were too many turnovers by the Beavs. Perhaps that is why Slocum (7), Pivec (7), and Goodman (2) didn't get many shots today.

Goodman has looked off on offense of late to me, and the team has not run many plays for her. I love her game, but Scott has definitely transferred many of her minutes to Kat, to the extent that it would not shock me if he changed starters.
Related. This is a very good team, but only a great one if they are taking and making a lot of 3s. Yes, they have other weapons, and they can beat CS-B by finding a ton of layups. Their 3 game has deserted them many times this season, which hopefully does not happen often in the coming months.

To break out of her scoring malaise, I think Scott needs to have Aleah play more of a 2 or 3 position, and turn the principal point guard duties back to Destiny.
On a different subject, while looking at the player stats prior to today's game, I noticed that Mik is not only leading the team in scoring and rebounding, but in assists and steals as well.

This game had me a bit worried. CSUB was rolled in Nov by Gonzaga and UW, but have been playing well in Dec including a 10 pt win vs. Pacific. Solid win that I expected tone a battle.
Now we will see how well they have been prepped for conference. The probably have a few winning defensive performances to date needed for conference wins vs the upper tier, but the offense still feels like it doesn’t have its identity, particularly when threes aren’t falling and the opposition has a big who can defend jones inside. We Have been able to grind out wins so far in these situations, but they will get tougher. Hope to see another consistent offensive dimension develop during conference play .. the chatter here of an efficient midrange game from Jelena would certainly fill that category.

I can see using Jelena at the high post, where she would have the option of shooting or passing out of it down to Kennedy or Taylor or out to a 3pt shooter. Though at 6-9 it would seem just wrong not to have her around the basket. It would be interesting to see how any opposing team would defend against that given that they really wouldn't be able to double-team anyone.

It sure seemed like Destiny and Mik could score whenever they wanted, and that the plan was to work on the bigs and entry passing.

One thing I noted in both the Men's and Women's games was that the time for experimentation is over. In both games, the rotation was shortened and I think that the minutes that we saw from each player will be roughly what we see in conference season. So, plenty of Jas (23min), just a smattering of Maddie(9min), and not much Janessa(6) or Trish(4min). Jones, Brown and Washington had a total of 57 minutes - we played more with four guards than with three. (We sure miss Taya, don't we?!)

She’s been a very consistent midrange player for us on offense and been efficient with her minutes. She’s a tough matchup for some teams and expect her to be used to provide a scoring punch off the bench, particularly during dry spells.

I agree wholeheartedly. Aleah is one of the nation's top outside shooters, but is having difficulty creating for herself even with a high screen from a post. Too much of the shotclock is being used up by dribbling and/or the defense is forcing Aleah inside the arc due to scouting report tendencies. Slocum is able to beat defenders off the dribble more readily and can create open looks for Aleah in the corner.

Aleah is right-hand dominant, which makes her much easier to defend. When Mikayla learned to drive to the basket from the left, and finish with her left hand, she became very difficult to defend.
