Poking around online, I found this on BYU: - The Cougars are 4-4 on the year heading into the last week of nonconference play - With 397 total wins, head coach Jeff Judkins is the all-time winningest men’s or women’s BYU basketball head coach. He needs three wins to reach 400 victories, a coaching milestone - Paisley Johnson leads the team in scoring averaging 16 points per game; senior guard Brenna Chase Drollinger follows contributing 11.7 points per contest; Drollinger currently ranks 28th all-time in career points with 1,031 - Maria Albiero tops the leaderboard in assists with a 3.8 average; Drollinger leads in steals with a 2.1 average; Sara Hamson leads the way in rebounds and blocks, pulling down 8.9 boards a game and getting 3.8 bocks a contest - In seven of the eight games played, BYU has had three players score in double figures, four put up double-digit points in the home win over Utah Valley on Dec. 14 BYU has already played Utah, ASU and WSU this season, all losses, so plenty of room for transitive discussions after this game. Hamson is 6'7", should be an interesting matchup for Jones. Their guards are smaller than ours, might present an advantage for us. We were able to play our starters less than usual against NAU - average of about 22ish minutes across our starting 5. 3 BYU starters went ~32 minutes each (probably not much of a difference for 18-20 year olds, however). Judkins is an NBA guy, entered the league same time/team as Larry Bird - never heard of him until now however...... Go Beavers!

Yes, Hamson at 6'7" should be an interesting matchup for Jones, who can get into foul trouble, or was that mainly earlier in the season?. SR has praised Kennedy Brown's defensive skills. I wonder what defensive role Kennedy might play tonight. I have trouble keeping track of the different defensive setups that we use.

Hamson is 5th in scoring for BYU at 7.2 ppg. I'm sure she's had a height advantage in every game they've played, but she doesn't appear to be the focus of their offense. Hopefully that means Jones won't find herself in foul trouble. I think Moody and Salmon are similar players--strong, scrappy, pick up some garbage points in the paint. Beating BYU starts w/ limiting Johnson and Drollinger.
edited--Drollinger is shooting the ball really poorly so far. She was good last year (was Brenna Wise, must've gotten married).

Or divorced ? Or, a new Sister Wife ! Glad to hear that Taylor will get a bit of a test... Entry passes could become a little difficult, so hopefully we will be hitting from outside a little better than last night. I REALLY like Jazz and her aggressiveness last night, the moves and drives, undert the hoop, we’re pretty amazing. Also, Maddie was nails on her mid range shots and contested rebounds. Love seeing these young ladies rise to the occasion ! Go Beavers !

Put Morris on Hamson a lot...harass her, challenge her in the paint, neutralize her rebounding, even if Morris has to foul out.

Put Morris on Hamson a lot...harass her, challenge her in the paint, neutralize her rebounding, even if Morris has to foul out. Why? I'd stick w/ the usual rotation, unless it's not working. Make Hamson chase Jones around and see if she gets in foul trouble. If Hamson was guarding Morris, she could pretty much rest on defense. She's only had 3 double figure scoring games against D1 teams this year. She was scoreless against Utah St.

She was scoreless against Utah St. IMO, Morris needs to be given a specific challenge to help her break out, at least as an important role player for the team. Right now she's just floating around in the background (ie. warming the bench really well in most games). She is almost nonexistent despite great athleticism and length. As far as offense, Morris should begin to go for some shots...nothing like starting with the present.

Watching Jelena do warm up drills right now, (behind the banner on streaming), that's encouraging

Kind of a chicken and the egg thing. She has to play better to earn more minutes, but it might be hard for her to show much unless she gets on the floor more. She looked rough in mop up time last night.

People were enamored with PM from day 1, yet she was obviously a project. And, she's yet to make strides that would portend her being a factor this season. It'll take Jelena time to get acclimated, but assuming she's got any kind of game she and Maddie are getting the key sub minutes. I've always seen PM as having the potential as the next transfer out to get more PT.

Gosh, just an awful start for the Beavs. 2 points in 5 1/2 minutes. Ugly, ugly, ugly.

Unrecognizably horrible offense so far. Is BYU defense really this good? 4 pt first Q.

Unrecognizably horrible offense so far. Is BYU defense really this good? Washington St., Utah and Arizona St. all beat them. OSU just completely inept so far.
