There is certainly more parity this season than ever before. Basically, because there is more talent available for the schools to recruit from. The rating criteria have not changed that much. But if you look at the top ten recruits listed by Hoopgirz ten years ago, You will find some players with 92 ratings where now a 92 will not even get you into the top 100. More girls are playing year-round and using personal trainers so the level of skill players has multiplied exponentially. That results in more teams including mid-majors with some very talented players on their rosters who are capable of having some big games on any given day.
This means that teams can no longer just show up and expect to win. With the increase of talent distributed among more programs, more and more schools are capable of upsets. I mean Stanford which is listed now as #1 bearly scratched by some lower-rated teams. It is a shame when a team works hard to build a winning record to them have it undermined by just one lapse of focus or effort.

West Virginia beat Mississippi St. SEC-Big 12 Challenge has been a landslide in favor of the Big 12. Tennessee and Mississippi St. both lost at home.
But the SEC will still get 8 or 9 teams in the Tourney regardless of how mediocre they are.

UConn hammering ND at the half. That must be therapeutic for those fans.

That helps because Hawaii beat Texas ! Arizona beat Texas as well, although that's the only semi-impressive win they have. Incidentally, the only 2 teams to end last year on a winning streak were Baylor, who had won at least 6 in a row en route to the national championship, and Arizona, the winners of at least 4 in a row en route to the WNIT title. Since Baylor has lost, Arizona currently has the nation's longest winning streak, which will probably remain in place at least until December 29 when they play Arizona State.

Possible upset alert, Arizona St. is going OT w/ Idaho St. Seems like ASU has been reloading and continuing on for so many years that I can't quite get used to the idea they are struggling this year. Wazzu is getting clobbered by Gonzaga. Their nice start to the season has gone downhill fast, this is gonna be their 4th straight double digit loss (although all 4 were against ranked teams).
edit--my bad, WSU beat up on Arkansas-Pine Bluff after their 3 losses in St. Thomas around Thanksgiving. What are they going to do next year when Bobbi Buckets and the eldest Molina graduate? Really no other scorers on that roster.

I don't know if it would be an "upset," but Hawaii at Washington is very "upsetting" to watch. Horrible shooting by both teams: UH 9-29 UW 8-39. 'Bows leading 27-22 at halftime. UGLY!
