I am a gymnastics fan, but just a casual fan. Anyway, there is some good info in the posts though some may object to the tenor of the posts. Still some good info if one sorts through. And I sure hope Jade has a great OSU career. And a team and individual gold.

I know, I sent the FIRST comment, only to get harassed by ‘some’ know it all’s. I am done with this conversation just to make you all feel like you have accomplished something and that you can now talk and attend amongst your little gymnastics groupies. I will stay at home, thank you ... Sling does allow you to sit next to and listen to whom you want to be around. Based on what I have seen today... I am not pumped about the type of crowd at these events - really detracts from the fan experience !

For anyone that's interested in Jade, here's an interview with her from just before worlds
Seems like a pretty level-headed young woman.

I don't know why there's an argument about point scoring and bias. While scoring bias could happen in international gymnastics, the point system is completely different and their skill levels are off the charts. College gymnastics still has the perfect 10 system, and routines are severely watered down. These girls are here for fun and games. Competition is pretty much thrown out the window, every meet has 8 different placements and award winners per apparatus. Coach Val from UCLA even mention, this is a recovery program for these girls who went through the rigorous training in international gymnastics. It used to be getting a 10 in college gymnastics was just not falling and having a big step on landings. The past few years have tightened up, but I wouldn't even say too dramatically.
