Have no idea, but would love to see the stats. The whole human scoring thing seems to be more of a beauty contest than an athletic scoring event. Let's say we are in Corvallis. Our girl does a FLOOR routine and gets a 10.0 UCLA girl does a technically perfect floor routine, she gets a 9.8. I am just a fan, not a judge, but, to me both girls should have a 10.0 ! Honestly do you know what comprises a “technically perfect” floor routine in the FIG Code of Points? Read up www.gymogturn.no/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/CoP-2017-2020-1.pdfOf course not ! Some of it is blatantly obvious. Take the floor ... falling down, taking a step on landing, etc. I am not interested in having an argument about a sport that I support purely from the athletes standpoint. I, and others will agree. Do not like biased judging and irrational point awards.

Sorry, your example is BS. At least, in college gymnastics. This ain't the Cold War and we're not dealing with the Warsaw Pact.
There is a problem with inconsistent judging, but the problem is that the same routine will get a 9.9 at Westwood, a 9.8 at Gill, and a 9.7 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Every team in the competition ends up over- or under- scored. Since the national seedings are based on these scores, it means that Oklahoma (by all accounts, the worst venue) is consistently overrated, Michigan is consistently underrated.
Sometimes it's a matter of who is in the meet. When UCLA or Utah is at Gill, our score goes up a half-point or so. The reason is obvious - the judges see Ohashi's routine ant they give her the 9.95 that they've been told is the minimum she ever gets for it. And once one girl has been scored high, they can't help but heap more of the same on the others.
But within the meet itself, you really don't see much "home cooking". At least, I've never seen a meet on TV or at Gill where the bias was obviously one-directional. Fans will always gripe, of course, but fans are idiots. Always.

Doesn't Baton Rouge, LA also have a bit of a notorious rep for high scoring? It's hard to say 100% though because LSU does have legit top-tier performers.

Well, you have successfully killed any enthusiasm I had for the Beavers gymnastics team. Thank you. People like you can ruin anything.

Weird Beaver - having to sit next to ‘know it alls’, kills any enthusiasm for any sport. I am sure you have never experienced that since you are obviously oblivious to what others ‘enjoy’. Your ‘aw’ comment shows just how you roll. I will watch it on PAC 12 .... ‘Aw’

Your ‘aw’ comment shows just how you roll. I will watch it on PAC 12 .... ‘Aw’ This is f-ing hilarious. I make a simple post congratulating OSU Gymnastics signee Jade Carey for for her fantastic accomplishments - finishing 2nd in the World Championships on vault and earning a team gold - and a few people take it as an excuse to be unhappy. Go figure. Reset bennyshouse.com/post/155934

It’s the way you respond.... get a clue. People ask questions, make statements, express opinions... Get it ? This , I believe, is a more than one way fan site. People are allowed to write/ say whatever they want. People, like you, do not control or call BS on other people’s input. Enjoy yourself and your special place at the gymnastics events ( I assume I will see you at the judges table ). However, I will be watching on TV with other fans that prefer sheer enjoyment versus verbal ‘I can tell you everything you don’t want to know ‘comments throughout a match. The ‘ fans are idiots’ is an especially nice touch. I guess that makes you feel good, while the OSU fans and coaches and team are paying the price ( low fan attendance) for your very welcoming attitude !

My apologies. When I said "Fans are idiots", I was trying to be self-deprecating. You see, I'm a fan. I assure you that I'm not that know-it-all that thinks he can do the judges' jobs better. If I was a judge it really would be unfair, since I'd start every one of our ladies at 11.0 just for the orange in their leotards. And instead of "BS", I should have said "outdated". Because the perception of bias is outdated, and I stand by the text that followed. Again, I apologize. But get to Gill. The meets are awesome. TV can't capture 10% of the energy you experience at Gill. Get off the couch - go see it live.

I am a recent convert to watching Gymnastics live, and I second the notion of taking in the event live....
Like WBB, we have some *very* skilled young ladies wearing Orange and Black. And like the Pac-12 in the sport, we are world class with respect to the teams we compete against. Like Soccer, there are moments that take your breath away interspersed with a lot of "more routine" moments. Like Volleyball, there is constant activity and lots of places to focus your attention. Like Baseball, there are lots of traditions and deeper strategies that you can really geek out about while still admiring the more 'superficial' aspects of the sport. Like many sports, the in-person ambiance is a whole different animal than TV......TV requires a mostly single-threaded narrative, and the action is definitely more suited to folks with ADD, and being easily distracted (and I resemble that comment) is actually beneficial to being in Gill :-). Unlike many of the other "us vs. them" team sports, it is not as easy to decide from moment to moment how we are doing vs. how they are doing. And you don't get the move/countermove in the small, but more in the large.
I love the "change up" Gymnastics presents to me vs. other sports I follow. That is what one season of watching the sport has taught me.......Your mileage and opinions may vary, of course.
Go Beavers!

My bad - doesn’t change my opinion about either of you ! How you feel about me personally is neither here nor there. This is a thread about a highly accomplished OSU gymnastics recruit who will hopefully create a lot of excitement at Gill once she wraps up her work at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
