I just feel horrible for Kat. It's a bummer for the Beavs as well, but for Kat it's a downer. All indications are she really wanted that extra season.

I can't even comment on this. I believe I know why the extra season was important to her. I know the NCAA is sort of necessary, but it is incidents like this that make me wish they are eliminated. They have no accountability to anyone. When that happens misuse of power and corruption follows. It appears I have commented anyway.

If Tudor comes back this season and uses her final season of eligibility to play with her teammates for a partial season, it will be a testament to the selflessness that she has shown throughout her time in Corvallis.
Selfishlessly, I would like to see Tudor play this season with this talented group, assuming she is healthy. However, no one should question a decision by her to redshirt this season and come back for the entire '20-'21 season. That should be her call. It appears now that she intends to play this season. Assuming she is able to do so, count on a huge ovation at Gill for her when she steps back on the court for her next competitive minute.

You know, that's a tough decision. Questions such as, how soon will she be ready to play, how many minutes will she get in the beginning, will she play tentative at first, is it better to wait a year until the leg is even stronger, if she redshirts, how well does she fit in with the 2021 team? All those questions (and more) must be running thru her head. On a team level, I could make a case for how much she could help this year, and/or next year. Either way, I feel bad for her, and wish her the best, and either way, I hope to see her play a big role for the team, as we all know what she can do when that shot is on!

From the GT article:
The present, for Tudor, is to continue rehabbing her knee and work her way back onto the court as soon as she is ready both physically and mentally.
She is committed to playing this year, her senior campaign, instead of sitting out and returning for the entire 2020-21 season.
“For a split second I did honestly think should I play this year?” she said. “But I’m not going to not play. I have to do this for my team. I’m still going to take the time for my knee to heal.”

Can’t help but wonder how this would have played out if it had been Sabrina.

Anything more than 10 games (30% of all games) precluded a medical hardship. If Flopsie was in the same situation and was granted an additional year, we'd be up in arms. The rule should be changed, perhaps to 25% of the conference season. But the NCAA clearly followed protocol and is actually supposed to be taking a much more consistent stance on hardship cases, especially those trying for immediate eligibility.

So that "crystal clear" rules thing isn't really all that clear.

It was 2 years of missing more than half the season.

. . . but the rules don't say anything like, "If you miss X games one year and then Y games another . . . " And that's a problem. If they just gave a cut-and-dried criterion and applied it every single time, they could shut us all up.
On the other hand, if they gave a cut-and-dried criterion and they applied it every single time, there are coaches out there that would abuse it. If we knew for sure that if Kat sat out, say, 10 games this season, it sure would be easy to say, "Golly, she just isn't ready to play yet . . . " for about ten straight games.

She lost games her freshman year because she chose to transfer mid season. It wasn't injury related from anything I've seen. Missing parts of 2 seasons is unfortunate but one of them was by choice.

OMFG... sometimes OSU fans just get silly... embarrassing.
Sure glad Kat isn't like some on here.

Bottom line: I hope Kat uses this disappointment - and comes out playing like there’s no tomorrow (because there isn’t), hopefully as soon as Game 1 PAC-12 opener.

baseba1111 – you know I thought I might click on your post and learn something fresh, something new. Instead, I read a patronizing, condescending rip that increasingly has become your trademark on this board.
I don’t get the point of your being snooty and scornful on a sports forum….Your impatience and arrogance diminishes the insightful observations you make every now and again…
It’s obvious you know quite a bit, but it’s also obvious that the pedestal you’ve created for yourself is not nearly as lofty or majestic as you think it is.
So why not lighten up….. GO BEAVS !!
