I think all of us see the need at the guard position in 2021, and it would be nice to have a 'sophomore' rather than a true freshman running the point, but, I'm not quite as concerned as some of you. My reasons:
If the Beavs land someone as good as Verhulst, I have no problem with her as the starter as a freshman Secondly, with a program as good as the Beavs, they will have no problem attracting a grad transfer point guard or another eligile to play transfer, who could step in for a year and run the program while others develop. Third, If you have Jasimine, and Shasha as guard/wings to go with the bigs in the program, you will have the inside presence of the bigs, along with the outside threats and slashers of Jasime and Shasha, and Kennedy will most likely be able to pop the 3 as well, so having a scoring point won't be as necessary.
Saying all of that, if the Beavs don't land Van Lith or Daniels, I still expect them to sign ay least one more this season, whether that be Samuels (who is a really good 3 point shooter) or one of the international players they are watching.

Rueck traditionally hosts visitors on the weekend of a home football game when possible, so perhaps 9/14 (vs. Cal Poly) or 9/28 (vs. Stanford) we'll see some visitors. There are also games against Utah (10/12) and Washington (11/8) before the early signing period, and perhaps a few unofficial visitors too... (Verhulst, Kampschroeder, Wolfenbarger, maybe even Goforth again). It appears Verhulst and Kampschroeder plan on making early-ish decisions.
Just have to sit back and wait at this point...!

Would you expect the Nov 8th game to be a big visitor weekend? Football Fri night followed by WBB vs UC Irvine that Saturday. Plus it's family weekend so quite a few people out and about.

Potentially for 2021/22 recruits, but I would assume MOST 2020s will like to have made their decision by that point, or at least have all their visits out of the way so they have time to decide. Off topic because it is 2021, but Greta will be visiting sometime in October, perhaps for the Utah football game.

I have been told that OSU will be hosting at least one highly-ranked Class of 2020 recruit in Corvallis this weekend. Perhaps one of you posters in the know can confirm the recruit's identity and/or if there will be more than one WBB recruiting target in Corvallis this weekend.

I'm assuming it won't be Daniels (who posted in a Philly airport which means Duke or Princeton), and it certainly won't be Van Lith who is at Louisville. My guess is Samuel, unless it is an international recruit.

Not listed in top 100 on ESPN recruits. If it is Savannah Samuel who is visiting Corvallis as suggested above, she is now rated #57 by ASGR and appears to be a late-rising recruit whose evaluations were enhanced following a strong summer 2019 AAU season. She is listed at 6'1" and is from Georgia.

A source close to the team confirmed that it will be Savannah Samuel from Georgia who will be visiting Corvallis this weekend on an official visit. Samuel has been described as a quality defender and capable scorer (averaged 20.1 points per game as a high school sophomore according to MaxPreps) who may have been a bit overshadowed by some flashier teammates when playing for a high level Under Armour AAU team from Georgia. There is optimism that Dalayah Daniels from Seattle's Garfield HS will be taking her official visit to Corvallis in October.

Good news on both counts (Samuel & Daniels).... If Daniels takes her OV in October it means she has not committed anywhere by then....It also means OSU will be among the last schools, or the very last, to get her on an official visit....
Coach obviously is impressed with Samuel to fly her in from Georgia...I pretty much assume it's a tough sell to sign a kid from Georgia (have the Beavs ever signed anyone from that part of the country?) Bringing her in tells me two things: one, Samuel is very interested in the Beavs; two, the Beavs are very interested in Samuel.
Whether she is viewed as insurance in case we lose out on Daniels or HVL, or both, is hard to say with any certainty ...But common sense tells us that if the Beavs do lose out on either DD or HVL Coach needs another good option, and he needs it fast. So, it's possible she is on hold until DD or HVL say no. If that happens she's on board. It's also possible Rueck wants all three.
Speculation is fun, and from this distance that's exactly what it is..... GO BEAVS !!

There's really no need to have her 'on hold.' The big advantage to having extra scholarships available is that you can take a flyer on someone like her with no impact on anything else. There are still scholarships available for other, higher ranked players, none of whom would be put off by knowing they have to compete against her, and she knows what she's getting into. She could go to any number of lower ranked schools and be a starter, or, if one wants her, go to a top ten school and probably be a bench player. I don't see any downside for anybody if we sign her.

A few points to consider when you say "I don't see any downside for anybody if we sign her." (1) Giving a schollie to an out of state players costs most athletic programs about $150,000 (or more) over a 4 year time table..That's one issue, though not usually a deal breaker. (2) Awarding an additional scholarship for 2020 (assuming the Beavs land DD & HVL) takes the roster up to 14, perhaps 15, players if Tudor is granted an extra year... (3) Many coaches do not like a completely full roster. It creates too many players with little or no floor time, and, as well, some coaches believe it hurts team cohesiveness and chemistry. Personally, I think Rueck believes this. Finally, some coaches operate on the premise that when we give you a scholarship that means we believe you have the ability to eventually be a starter in our program.... So, yeh, there are a few downsides to awarding additional scholarships - even when you have an extra to give.... GO BEAVS !!

Dalayah has already visited Cal, UCLA, and now Princeton, so it’ll be interesting to see who among Oregon State, Stanford, and Duke get her remaining visits.
From a practical standpoint, if she wants to visit all six, OSU will likely be receiving an unofficial visit, just because of Corvallis’ proximity to the Seattle-area.
Not sure where we stand with HVL, and where she has visited, but I’d expect her on campus sometime over the span of the next 30 or so days.
Another player I’m interested to see where she ends up is Sela Heide, a 6-8 C from WA. She is beginning to crack the top-100 rankings.
