Once again, Aleah will be on the road as a part the the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series -- as she, alongside UConn's Christyn Williams, Texas' Charli Collier, and Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu, will travel to Voiron, France from August 1-2. Here is the link to the event (schedule, rosters, stats, streams): FIBA 3x3 Women's Series: Voiron
I believe this is Goodman's fourth stop on the tour, with earlier stops to Chengdu (China), Turin (Italy), and Ekaterinburg (Russia). This is a great experience for Aleah, and I'm very happy she got this opportunity. 3x3 should be a great opportunity to help her improve the facets of her game that needed improvement.

The area that I see that it will help her in is on the ball defense. There is a lot of space on the court with generally no one behind you, so on the ball defense becomes more important. In other area's int might actually be a learning liability. The open space tends to influence more one on one offensive play and less teamwork, with the exception of two-man games. In 3x3 once you get by your man, there is generally little help defense. It's not like in 5x5 when you consistently face opposing posts guarding the paint.

I think the one on one aspect of it could at times help Aleah. As coach has mentioned many times, she is a true floor general and a true leader who is incredibly savvy and has a very high BB IQ. With a short shot clock, sometimes you need to create your own shot, and I think that is another facet of Aleah's game that could use improvement, but also an area where I thought she made a big stride from her freshman to sophomore year. No, Aleah generally isn't someone who will shoot 15+ FGA/game, because that isn't and likely never will be her game, but to be able to create your own shot can go a long way -- and something she has shown a lot of improvement in. I don't think we will see Aleah become less of a team-first and more of a me-first player just because that is what a 3x3 game requires, but I do think it could be beneficial in her expanding and improving areas of her game.

USA won the 2nd game by quite a bit.
Worth noting is that in between games today Aleah was the top qualifier in the 3pt shooting competition. She will shoot for the 3pt championship tomorrow. I think there are 3 others (4 total) in the finals.

Unfortunately, Goodman seems to always be placed on the same team with Collier, who I believe is the weakest of USA 3x3 pool. I am not saying that she is the worst basketball player in the pool, just the post least suited to the 3x3 game.

USA Vs. Mexico is at -3:24:00

Weird they only have 3 of 4 players at the games.

I love Aleah's game. She certainly is a team first player. Unfortunately, she is playing with 2 players who don't know how to set a screen, play pick and roll, or switch on a screen defensively. After watching yesterday's USA games, really makes me appreciate OSU coaching. I would like to see Aleah develop her ability to go to her left (like Mikayla Pivec). Mik is so difficult to guard because she is equally tough going to her left as she is to her right. Aleah is still very right-hand dominant. Aleah will be a difficult match up if she develops her game going to her left.

I agree with lotrader on this point. But it is well to remember that Aleah developed her slash right penetration move only this past year....She used it successfully in almost every game during the last half of the season....But it was pretty much nonexistent her Frosh season.
Pivec's power left move was a beauty to watch this past season, and it was devastating to her defenders; however, from watching her Frosh and Soph. film you can see that she rarely (almost never) used this move in her first 2 years in the program...She mastered it in her 3rd year....
Shifting gears: I'm hoping that Goodman and Corosdale both improve their drive left skills this season...It would really benefit Corosdale who, after two full years, still has demonstrated only a minimal ability to attack the basket off the dribble...I presume that improving this phase of her game is part of Taya's' off-season training program...
The free-throw-extended driving lane that Pivec used so effectively this past season is also available to Corosdale on most offensive sets...Thus far in her career she simply does not have the skill set to take advantage of it....Maybe this year.... GO BEAVS !!

Dang, short handed Team USA, with Aleah gave Canada a serious challenge but lost in the Semi 3x3 Montreal.

It was a great effort against Canada. Canada has the Plouffe sisters, one of which starred at Utah and was a second round WNBA draft pick. They all had some height on Aleah, they were all either 6'1 or 6'3. Onyenwere for UCLA is a handful -- not looking forward to playing her this year.

Team USA went 2-0 today in Edmonton playing with Goodman, Onyenwere (UCLA), Williams (UConn), and Alarie (Princeton). Goodman's high basketball IQ is evident in the 3-on-3 format as she fights over picks and passes quickly to put her teammates in good situations.
However, it is apparent that Goodman is deferring to her more-decorated teammates and often finds herself in the corners of the court to create more spacing for Onyenwere and Williams to utilize their one-on-one skills. I am sure she is doing what is being asked of her during these events. I would simply like to see one of her teammates pass to her quickly enough or set a strong screen to allow Goodman a few more shots on the offensive end of things.

Goodman does what needs to be done and she does a great job of it. It is going to be interesting to see if Rueck will use her the same ad last year. Having her watch the first two to five minutes from the bench allowed her to identify the team's needs and then come in and try to fill them either herself or by setting teammates up.
