Seems the Beavs could benefit from getting a PG to commit in 23. Couple of years with TVO to learn the system.

Considering all of the small guards we’re recruiting in 2024, I assumed the coaching staff might be looking for our next PG there. Just a guess, but I would love to hear if anyone thinks otherwise.

ESPN doesn’t list any of the Oregon State prospects mentioned on this board as point guards, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they aren’t capable of it. Judaea Watkins (#2 on ESPN’s list), is undoubtedly very athletic. Most talked about here is Sophia Bell (#28). Jenna Villa (#55) is also listed as a “G”, like the others… not “PG”. With Tea leaving after this year, we really need another backup point guard.

I'll be interested in seeing what happens here. The Beavs showed initial interest in some PG's but seemed to back off a bit. Maybe they are still interested in Donovyn Hunter, who some list as a point guard, but it doesn't appear the Beavs have shown a ton of interest in her. I did see a few weeks back that Jenny and Donovyn's Mom started following each other on social media, so maybe they are keeping an eye on her.
My guess though is that the Beavs will look for a point guard in the transfer portal to help next season, and look to the High School's for a 2024 PG.
After two really strong recruiting years (2021, 2022), I'm very interested in what they do in 2023. There doesn't seem to be a whole of players they are chasing, but the Beavs do normally have a narrower list than most, and really concentrate on the players they really feel strong about.

Isn’t Adley Blacklock (22 class), a PG if not can she play a backup, roll? With Tea Adams leaving this year and Adley coming the cupboard will not be bare. If Coach feels the need for another PG then he will find one thru the portal, JC, or High School players I trust this staff to fill the needs.

No, she doesn’t play point for her HS team and I question whether she is suited for playing point. She has good passing skills (court vision) but her quickness and speed is suspect. Watch the video on the Adlee Blacklock thread and I think you’ll see what I mean.

With that analysis I can see why some are concerned but was Mikayla Pivec a PG when she played that position for a year. There are players on this team that can play that spot as a backup.
