I saw that she has offers from Utah and Utah St. Does anyone know of Oregon State is recruiting her? She doesn't show up in the player rankings (at least I haven't found her). Yes, Oregon State appears to be recruiting her heavily. Rankings are a little bit iffy at this point because of how limited games were last summer. Olson, who previously covered espnW HoopGurlz, wrote this about her in 2019: "Quick floor-leader with a scorer's mentality; smooth off the dribble, displays mid-range game with feathery touch, drains shots beyond the arc; weaves through the defense, finishes plays in traffic." She is also a good defender. Not sure what 2023 will look like if we take a bigger 2022 class. Oops, Either she was at one time recruited heavily or not? Arizona, BYU, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA and Utah. Too crowded of a field to anyway.

Hence, “as of late.” Obviously Oregon State showed interest and was recruiting Whiting at one point, but that the staff was at many of her (and Timea’s) games this summer and never offered was telling.

Why would she sign with Oregon when they started three point guards in their exhibition game... how many point guards do they want?? I have a reason why I think the Beavs may have backed off, but there's no point in speculation. She's one of my favorite players in the 2023 class, and I'm really surprised she committed this early. I agree completely with your statement here, beav74. Once again, it's obvious somebody will be transferring out. There are definitely some good guards in the program, or coming to their progarm 2020 #11 Te-Hina Paopao (who gained an extra year of eligibility due to the Covid season), 2020 #19 Maddie Scheer (also extra year gained), 2021 #29 Taylor Bigby (not considered a point), 2022 #7 Chance Gray, and Amari, who at 2023 #33 is the lowest ranked of all of them. beav74, you mentioned them starting 3 point guards at their exhibition, but I haven't seen anything about the Beavs exhibition. Any hints on how that went?

One of the things that seems to be missed here is that interest has to be a two way street. Maybe OSU was interested and Whiting wasn't? When Beers visited OSU she was literally bouncing with excitement at being here. Makes recruiting a little easier.

I am not even sure where she went or how well she did. Btw, they also have that USC guard

Turned out to be a better 3 point shooter and rebounder than anticipated. At times their entire offense was dependent on now departed Dana Evans. HVL might have the opportunity to really make it her team this season.

Why would she sign with Oregon when they started three point guards in their exhibition game... how many point guards do they want?? Stanford has signed a recruit listed as a point guard every year for 7 years in a row and counting - seems to have worked pretty well for them. In order, starting in 2015, they are: Marta Sniezek Anna Wilson Kianna Williams Jenna Brown Hannah Jump Jana Von Gytenbeck Jzaniya Harriel

nwhoopfan, who has more potential in your opinion, HVL or TVO Very good question, I'm not quite sure. Looking forward to big things from both of them.
Semi related, HVL broke the career high school scoring record in Washington during her Senior year. TVO almost certainly would've passed her if her Senior season had actually happened...but Juliana Walker (Fr. at Syracuse) would've finished ahead of both of them.

Sniezek is probably the only true PG until Van Gytenbeek.
