The Whyte T&F facility has been complete for 6 or 7 years now. How the hell do they expect to build any following for this team without so much as a simple grandstand for spectators to watch the meets?
Was very disappointed to see the list of athletic dept projects and not see anything included for track. Why sponsor the sport if you aren’t going to provide even a basic facility?

They put temporary bleachers down there that work just fine for the small crowd that attends the one yearly home meet. The track itself is more than adequate.

Unfortunately, the hey day for US collegiate track is past. Dual meets are basically never held and you are left with invitationals. If you don't have the infrastructure to host 4+ teams, you won't host and your track basically becomes a practice facility. Didn't we host the P12 championships 2 years ago and some of the events had to take place in Eugene because we couldn't accommodate? pac-12.com/track-field/championships-2017I love that we have a team and wish we had the resources/requirements to add a men's program. When I win the big lottery, I'll fully fund both.

Maybe that’s why they only have one home meet and nobody knows about it. Cal has a great track facility and has one meet, same as WSU. UCLA and ASU have two. Washington has two. Home track meets are a huge pain in the butt. Need almost 100 or more volunteers, they last all day, very few people attend. That's why most schools don't have more than one or two per year. Yes, it would be nice to have a permanent track grandstand. But it's very, very low on the priority list, unless they locate a dedicated donor. What are you going to invest in, a baseball stadium that holds about 80-90 events per year and produces revenue, or a track venue that's used once or twice?

He didn't say profit or net revenue....he said revenue. Baseball games do generate revenue.

Track and field has changed so much from when I loved it in the 1970's. The dual meets have gone by the wayside. Very sparsly attended functions. It's not part of the landscape anymore. It definitely isn't on the top of the priority list for the osu facility master plan.

We are not PAC 12 worthy in track. I feel really sad. We can justify how we spend Money, but very little results. Wonder if we can beat Willamette and Corbin? Really no plan and I feel for the ex ASU coach. Hope He gets us to where ASU is by his retirement. Don't mention Men's track. Not even realistic.

There is a balance with title ix too if we offer scholarships for men in the future, which throws the men/women ratio off. Federal compliance in terms of that ratio, and cost. I loved track and field in my youth, but it's a sport not high on the priority list at osu just like wrestling.

At ASU he was able to develop Olympic caliber athletes. Coach Dumble (throws coach) actually came in the last year of Coach Sullivan. He was Quintana's assistant at ASU. Right now, we may be strongest in the throws. I wish it was other events, but we will take what we can get. And regarding duals, they are a thing of the past.

This might be the most uninformed comment you've made, and that's saying something. Our cross country team advanced to the NCAA championships. ASU's didn't. So we're already ahead of them in the distance events. Our track team is steadily improving, and has signed 24 athletes for next year. And yes, we crushed Willamette and Corban this year at the Lewis & Clark meet, without our entire team.

Jon Snow could use her to hurt some fireballs at the White Walkers.

I was at Panera last night, and the Idaho track and field team was in there. There was a four way meet at osu yesterday or today. They were very impressed with the track itself. High quality. The stands funding will have to come from a die hard track fan or ex: track athlete at osu.
