Well, one thing about Mitrovic is that she has a history of posting huge rebounding numbers, something Jo Grymek did not have a history of doing. If you compare her numbers at this level to Jo's numbers at this level, Mitrovic's are much better. I would be surprised if she wasn't better than Grymek at least by her SO season, but I think she comes in with the ability to do things Grymek could not.

I agree with your comment that Mitrovic has skills Grymek lacked. From the video, her ability to catch an entry pass, her passing ability and her footwork and shooting around the basket are clearly better. These are all things that suggest that she will give us a boost, given the kind of offense we run (inside-out... to 3 point shooters). She will have a learning curve and others are right when they say we need to see how she will perform at this level... but the potential to be a significant contributor is there. I will not be surprised if she is starting by the time the Pac-12 season rolls around. I think the time at center will be split between Mitrovic and Morris (who will most likely start at the beginning of the season).

Barring any redshirts we will have what has to be the tallest freshman class in ncaa wbb history. 6'9", 6'9", 6'6", and 6'3". And to think the short one has a 7'2" wingspan! Now they just need to get on campus and get settled in. I'm sure the upperclassmen will start working with them as soon as they get here. Speaking of, who is going to be the summer captains this year? Mik is an obvious one but the second one is not so clear. Kat has to be the front-runner but Destiny or Aleah are possibilities. The dark horse for me would be Maddie. And the "short one" with the 7'2" wingspan can apparently dunk too! (see pic in lower right corner in the link below. Sure looks like she is dunking the ball during a visit to the OSU practice court.)

I look forward to watching these young players and am excited to see how they grow and develop right in front of our eyes. CR has an idea with all this height and the personnel to make it happen. I'm not sure there are many programs that get the improvement from season to season that the beavs do. Some of this also has to do with the type of person that gets recruited, they have a certain internal drive to get better.

Seems we’re going in the other direction. It’s going to continue to get harder with the league getting better each year

A couple of things. I haven’t seen a ton of video of the prospects, but Mitrovic seems to have good hands and an ability to pass inside out. I’m sure she needs to get much stronger and in much better shape, she might be used very similarly to Jo’s first year in just 2 or 3 minute stints.
The video I’ve seen of Taylor Jones was very encouraging, besides the wingspan, she’s the best leaper for a big player I’ve seen at OSU. I think if she didn’t get hurt her junior year, she would have a much higher profile.

and also don't forget, "they (short people) got little cars That go beep, beep, beep (and) They got little voices Goin' peep, peep, peep....Don't want no short people 'round here" ...as per Randy Newman.

I know many of you disagree, but I still think someone gets redshirted next year, and that someone is Mitrovic. If it comes to pass, you heard it here first. Yeah, she probably needs to improve her English and get used to university-level expectations. HS academics in most foreign countries is demanding with colleges less so. The reverse here: you cruise through HS and get dumped on in college.

The brother of Jelena is happy too..... Luka Mitrovic, also stands 6'9", last pick of 2015 NBA Draft. (Cool how many of our players have basketball playing brothers). Gives Ron Callan some good questions to ask Jelena while he learns the Serbian anthem over the next 4-5 years :-). Go Beavers!
