Whew! I can continue to claim that in the SR era no verbal commit has ever reneged. I just don't think we recruit (or perhaps attract) that kind of player to our program.....
I see from the release that Jelena has already drawn recognition for her sportsmanship - great that the character of the program will continue to be very, very high.
"Mitrovic, a 6-foot-9 center who has been rated the No. 3 European prospect at her age, averaged 11.7 points and 11.3 rebounds per game for Serbia at the 2018 U18 European Championships. Her tournament was highlighted by a 20-point, 11-rebound performance against Italy, and she pulled down 17 rebounds on two occasions at the tournament. She also earned the Fair Play Award at the event for displaying outstanding sportsmanship."
Go Beavers!

Been watching for this all day! Glad it finally came through. Regarding the "No. 3 rated prospect in Europe for her age" comment, does anyone know the source of this? I follow international ball a little bit, but haven't seen that. I'd be interested in knowing who they rated ahead of her and behind her that will be playing in the states next year.
Well, looks like there are going to be a few 'bigs' on campus this fall.

I believe we are also recruiting #1 Emily Bessoir and #8 Awak Kuier (both 2020s). #7 Muhl committed to UConn.

Thanks, beaverwbb, I missed that. Muhl is a really nice player. I'd love to think that Jelena is better, but I don't think she is there yet. I have a feeling she will get her chance to really develop at Oregon State. If she starts getting her shot down, look out!

Barring any redshirts we will have what has to be the tallest freshman class in ncaa wbb history.
6'9", 6'9", 6'6", and 6'3". And to think the short one has a 7'2" wingspan!
Now they just need to get on campus and get settled in. I'm sure the upperclassmen will start working with them as soon as they get here. Speaking of, who is going to be the summer captains this year?
Mik is an obvious one but the second one is not so clear. Kat has to be the front-runner but Destiny or Aleah are possibilities. The dark horse for me would be Maddie.

There won't be too many (if any) men's programs with 3 or more freshmen who will be able to boast of that kind of height either.

Now I could be wrong, but it appeared to me that Scott was already beginning the defensive transition to make use of the length the team will have, in spades, for the foreseeable future. The defense used when Grymek was on the floor was only the precursor to what the base defense will look like in the coming years. He continued to use the same zone defensive alignment even when Maddie was in. Sort of implies it was not just geared to Grymek but rather getting the team ready for next season.
On offense, the team will have to improve on getting the ball into the bigs. I do think that using Andrea and Taylor as passers of the high post should help in that respect. They are both excellent passers and their length should make getting the ball into players like Jelana on the block. Using them at the four should really open up things for whatever five is in the game.

I know many of you disagree, but I still think someone gets redshirted next year, and that someone is Mitrovic. If it comes to pass, you heard it here first.

I don't know what all this excitement is about that I'm hearing. Mitrovic is only 6'9" and can't hit the 3. The fact that her length alone should yield 15 rebounds every game and that she is deadly accurate around the hoop with post moves and can put the ball on the ground and is a great passer is what? Wouldn't you say commonplace? Come on, people! She'll ride the bench with all the talent we have coming back from last season! You heard it here first!

You have no idea how her game will translate. Didn’t you think Jazz would be a huge factor this year?

I'm having flashbacks to your comments about Simmons...
