How 'bout a job in a real conference, at OSU? He's done very well everywhere he's been and doing it all over again at U Houston. Any chance?!
Go Beavs!

Go Beavs! $6 million buyout for Tinkle, plus you would probably have to make Sampson one of the top 20 highest-paid coaches in NCAA basketball to get him out of Houston. If you have a spare $10 million lying around, we could probably make it happen. Otherwise..............

Well, I guess that answers that question.

He’s also got busted for cheating everywhere he’s been. Almost true. He was head coach at NAIA Dvision III Montana Tech back in the 80's (we just played them in exhibition this past season) and seems to have managed to move to Washington State as an assistant unscathed and without scandal. But otherwise, I believe your assessment to be spot on...... (I took Beginning Basketball (needed the PE elective credit) in 1983 as a freshman from Kelvin at said institution. All of his players were also signed up. They got coached up in class, and we got a credit). Go Beavers!

Hard pass on Sampson. But with all that is happening at Auburn, Bruce Pearl might be available sometime in the future if you don't mind scum.

Recruiting is very dirty. It's always been that way. No to Sampson. Philosophically don't like his approach...
Soon we will see high high schoolers to the NBA. That will help a little. Too many guys with their hands out,and using prospects as a piece of meat.

Houston's conference (American Athletic) got in four teams to the NCAA; the Pac 12 got three. The Pac 12 went 4-3, including ASU's play-in game, and the AAC went 3-4. uo played #1 seed Virginia well, losing 53-49 but UW got pasted by #1 seed UNC 81-59. For the AAC, UCF lost to #1 seed Duke 77-76 and Houston lost to #2 seed Kentucky 62-58. I don't know if the Pac 12 was so much better than the AAC, at least last year.

Personally, I'd rather have Tinkle here. He has done a great job at Oregon State, and he will lead the Beavs back to the NCAA tourney this season. No he hasn't and no he won't. It just goes to show you how pathetic the program has been the last 25 plus years that a coach can be 35 and 55 in conference and a Beaver fan would say he has done a "great" job. Talk about setting the bar low.... If the AD gives him another extension they should be fired. WT will be gone soon after the coaches kids are gone.

Respectfully, I disagree. He has been the most successful coach since Ralph, but we will see how the season ends this season. If you take away his worst season, he does not have a losing season, which is impressive in a smaller place like Corvallis. I firmly believe that this is a tournament team. I'll eat my words if I am wrong.

Coach Tinkle's players have raised the bar academically, and he has been the most successful coach since Ralph. He coached a team that broke the tourney drought, and he has only had one losing season. I have watched Beaver Basketball for 30 years and I personally believe that it would be a huge mistake to let Coach Tinkle go. That's just one man's opinion.
