See that's where you show your ineptitude and immaturity to fire back a child-like response... HOF x 2, winning %, 35 out of 38 winning seasons are facts... I had no input. Yes, because your "sterling" response was so mature. If we had a current coach that was 1-7 in the NCAA tournament, there would be more than a few fans that would want him fired. My response was at a level that you understand. Maybe take a brief break and research "opinion" vs "fact"??! If we were going to the Tourney 5, 6, 7 times I think your wrong! LOL No one... zero, zip, zilch, nada... were asking for Ralph to retire. LMAO... keep digging

I gave you the "facts". 1-7 in the tourney and he got us on probation twice and we had to vacate post season results twice. Fans have changed and now have little patience for post season failure. Ralph would get the Mike Riley treatment if he were coaching today.

PS- besides the earlier research... maybe learn what caused the vacated W's. Class is out, new teacher needed, problem student, maybe a IEP/504 or necessary...

I know what caused the vacated W's I'll give the Shelton incident a pass. But the 81-83 vacations were due to players selling complimentary tickets, receiving "loans" and cars. Not exactly minor stuff. And my son is Autistic and on an IEP, you insensitive A-hole.

See that's where you show your ineptitude and immaturity to fire back a child-like response... HOF x 2, winning %, 35 out of 38 winning seasons are facts... I had no input. Ralph Miller's winning percentage is 165th all time... 1-7 tourney record. While the tourney was different then than it is now, he basically never made the equivalent of a sweet 16, let alone final four or championship game. Do you put Ralph Miller in the same league as Jerry Tarkanian? Roy Williams? John Wooden? Coach K? Bill Self? How many coaches do you put ahead of Miller, and at what point do we accept maybe he was just very good? does the tier of "elite" college basketball coaches go 165 steps deep? Is Dana Altman elite? he has both a better overall winning percentage and a better tourney record, and Altman is 142nd in win percentage Hey, he is a GREAT coach. A true legend in Oregon State history. nobody here should besmirch his name. I am not taking a line on the "is he really elite" argument, but I will completely entertain the notion it is debatable. That tourney record... a data point we are holding Tinkle to a VERY high standard on... is a massive albatross around his neck. the 1980, 26-1, #2 in the nation season in particular. IN comparison, Slats Gill "only" had a .604 winning percentage, but mops the floor with Miller on post season performance. Who was better? Gill or Miller? I would argue Gill. multiple final four equivalent finishes.

IEP = Individual Education Plan. Pretty common, not negative in anyway unless one (you obviously) makes it such, as it assures proper educational placements and procedures are given. I, at times had 50% of some courses with kids on IEPs. So, again your opinion is again wrong. Hopefully your son and his educational needs are being met.

It was used by you in a negative way...in the fact that I needed one because I disagreed with you. That was the problem in the way you used it.

If we want to be factual 33 of Miller's 38 seasons were winning seasons. There were a couple of ties there. Still, that's 86.4% of his seasons were winning seasons, which is pretty darned great. Held to the same standard, Tinkle is sitting at 76.9%, 10 of 13, still pretty darned good. Just for fun, Dana Altman had 9 winning seasons his first 13 years as a head coach. That'd be 69.2%.

In today’s era he would have had much easier first round matchups with a completely diluted and revised tournament format. So Evansville, Ball St., Lamar etc were all powerhouses back then? Let’s see. Where did I say “powerhouses” again? That’s right, I didn’t. But I did imply better competition which they absolutely were. Since it wasn’t a field of 64 (+4 really) they were obviously better than teams that didn’t appear back then that would be included in today’s tournament. Pretty simple mathematically actually.

They lost the next game to eventual Championship game loser Seton Hall.

Losing to the Hoyas and Ewing is certainly no sin either.
