Holy cow, what a game. Gut check time and ice at the line in OT. Hopefully that got some butterflies out for Gonzaga.

wow, there are games where you prove you're brittle, and games where you get a 2nd chance and stomp

10 straight FTs after shooting terribly at the line (a lot of it was how got to the FT line late, however). Rueck did not have this team ready for how BSU plays, hopefully that changes come Monday. Our talent combined with some serious floor leadership late got us that win... barely.

You have to give credit to Boise State. They really know how to get their shooters open for the three. Whatever it takes. Beavers better figure out how to handle pressure or they won't come out on the right side against Gonzaga. They don't handle pressure real well. That was the achilles heal I was referring to in the earlier post and mentioned by baseba1111.

Fortunately (unfortunately for Gonzaga), they no longer have the depth to rotate 11 players going 110% the whole game. That was an impressive display of what March basketball is supposed to look like by BSU.

They cut it way too close. It took heroics to get to OT, but props to the Beavs for stepping up - 4 of them contributed to hitting 10 straight foul shots after the team had shot under 50% for the game.
I agree with Baseball that some credit should go to Boise, but there is no way that you line up their roster with our’s and see a close comparison if people play to their capabilities. The whole team just unraveled after being up 14, and they flirted with an embarrassing exit, regardless of the opponent.
Every game will be a tough one in the tourney, especially without a reliable inside presence that will make you pay by finishing and making foul shots. I expect that the return of Kat and the advent of at least 3 bigs who can move and play will make us considerably tougher next year, but we are in the 2019 tourney right now, and I would expect any win from this point to be a very good accomplishment for a team playing without 2 significant talents and no true inside game.
I’m proud of the Beavs. That was a gut-check win, and they may just finally be breathing normally again.

Whew. Gutted it out. What a great OT performance. Hitting tough shots and making the FTs.
Way to finish Beavs!

Scott's teams have struggled against high pressure defenses every year. I think maybe his philosophy is that it doesn't matter. If we turn the ball over under heavy pressure we'll make up for it in other ways. His reluctance to use a full court press falls under the same category I suspect. The last minute of OT seemed like an excellent place to press and make them burn clock. But we always get down and set the defense instead. Just part of his "system" I guess.
And don't take this as my saying he is a bad coach or that I know better than he does. I'm not and I don't.

Without that this goes the other way.

Without that this goes the other way. If you are talking about the out of bounds review, that was pretty clearly off Boise State. Great gut out win. We are not playing like a top 25 team right now, the funk remains, but they are doing their best to fight through it. If we can beat Gonzaga on Monday and get to the Sweet 16 that would be a pretty decent accomplishment for this team!

A W is a W! Win Monday and nobody remembers this game. In the end, minus Kat, Thropay, and Aquino, we’re still ballin. Ralph’s teams woulda blown this kinda game.
