I think that this year was very different from last in the sense of trend. Last year was a relatively steady upward trend. This year has been quite a steady down at times.

This team lost the 3-ball 10-12 games ago and have suffered according. Struggling even in the games they’ve won. This was a huge loss, and may cost them a 4 seed in Gill. *sigh* Will not host at Gill with lower RPI. Will be very difficult to win on the road. Hope this is a learning season to get ready for next season.

How can you leave the in bounder wide open? You always watch the in bounder--always. Well she was only 10 feet outside the 3 point line, I would bet that she would only make that about 1 in 10 times.

Went brain dead on defense letting the inbounder shoot. This game is like the whole season. Live and die by the three. No consistent inside game. Careless with the ball. Bad defense at the various times. Get a comfortable lead then let it go away. I wouldnt get any hopes of this team going very far in the tournament. Could be a one and done even if they host.

Dont matter how far beyond the three line the shooter was..you have account for her.

This team is way too much in love with the three point shot. All year long. It has cone around to bite them in behind at the end of the season.

No matter how far out a player is you still need to have someone able to defend her if she gets the ball. Peterson was 5 for 6 on three pointers and is perfectly capable of making that long a shot. Especially if wide open. If she was not comfortable enough shooting it she would not have done so. They still had time on the clock. I will bet you that was the play Washington had set up.

This ending will probably be replayed over and over this weekend in the Pac12 networks. You know they LOVE these feel good stories (roll-eyes).

Lost... disappointing. But, I'm not sure what is so surprising in the how and why.
Women's college hoops isn't rocket science... one dimensional teams don't go far in one and done tourneys. Whether it be inside or outside oriented if the strength goes bad, their pretty much toast.
Rebuild, retool, reload... whatever you start to label it, OSU was limited on both ends of the court. And, still created a very successful regular season and could still win a game or two in the post season.
But, as several observed early on, polls mean zero. And, as many complain in other sports polls are highly influenced by the previous season and program reputation. All in all, this OSU team was never a top 10 caliber team. Realistically not a top 15. But, the post season will determine that.
Fans are passionate about the team/players, disappointed about an unlikely loss... but, weird to write off a season look to next before the last loss in the NCAA.

Yes. Someone missed their defensive assignment. This seemed to happened a lot this year. Defense was much better last year.

The team was so lethargic and weird this game in the 2nd half, zero sense of urgency or court awareness. If we drew the #1 seed, things would have been different.

Everyone is going a bit too far with the doom and gloom. The team will still host the first two games. An upset in the tournament will not cost them that. A lot of teams rated behind them also lost. Washington was hot and on a roll. it's one of those " on any given day scenario's". Thats what happens in tournaments. There is still plenty of time for to shake off the shooting slump. The key this season seemed to be Goodmans's outside shooting streak. She is a streak shooter and when she goes cold and the other players are also and they meeet a hot team this is what happens. This is another game they really missed Kat both on offense and defense.

Totally agree with baseball1111. This team began struggling when Jo's minutes began to climb. I think it was one of SR's best coaching years due to the youth and loss of Marie. Thought that Katie would be a go to player this year as a senior but basically on offense most games she wasn't a factor. Too bad. The kid could shoot. Reminded me of another excellent shooter, Sam Signer who for all practical purposes never got to use her talents on offense. Good post.
