Anyone seen this kid play? Definitely going to check him out at the state tournament this year.
"The Alligator" seems a weird nickname for a finesse 6'11 guy, but whatever.
This tweet is extremely hyperbolic, but he is a top 20 national player for 2021.

Recruiting now days is big biz and all over the media, but the state has had many highly recruited players over the years. He's not in that ballpark. And, seeing him once he's good, but he didn't appear to be top 20 in the COUNTRY good?! I think Crater has like 7 losses. If you have a 6'11" Top 20 kid, Soph or not, you're not losing 7 in Oregon 5A ball. At least the elites I saw, played against didn't...

At least two of those losses are to out of state teams, but I agree with your general statement. They also lost to 4A Santiam Christian, but I’ll admit I didn’t do any research to see if Bittle played in all of these losses.

He is very skilled as a Sophomore, but he really needs to hit the weight room. He’s currently 6’10”, but he’s under 200 lbs

I liked this quote from the Register Guard noting how Bittle was suspended for the first quarter of the game vs. Thurston for violation of a school rule. (Thurston led 21-8 after the first quarter).
He was on the floor in the 4th quarter, however, when Thurston closed the game by outscoring Crater 26-9.
I have a long history of hating 3 point shooting big men, so I'm probably biased and of course I'd love to keep a 6'11 in state kid at OSU, but his rating seems a big inflated to me at this point.

Without looking it up, I'm sure Kevin Love was recruited by everyone... Even Kyle Singler had offers from Duke, Kansas, UNC and the Pac10 if I remember correctly... or were we P12 back then? Anyhow, I'm not sold on the Gator just yet.

SC is a good team with several good bigs, and were missing one of their best players due to a concussion the day previous. Bittle is good. Coordinated and can dribble with a nice stroke. Definitely needs to bulk up and get stronger but he’s just a soph.

The kid is scrawny, but he's got some handle, and plays today's game... rarely goes inside. Almost never on offense. The game was marred by maybe the worst HS officiating I've ever seen. Silverton ws aggressive and bodies up, reaches, and was physical. But, they initiated contact yet Crater was called for 13 offensive offs, and that's when we began counting. Bittle was given three of those although Silverton was the better team the three idiots in stripes made sure it was all about them. Second game was a terrible matchup... Wilsonville was up 19-4 immediately over Pendleton... 47-19 by the time I left in the 3rd. Afternoon session the same mismatched teams... +19, +30, +27... except Thurston losing to Willamette by 5. 6A was worse... 1st Rd winners +94, all double digit wins with a 10 pointer the closest game.

I wonder if the lopsidedness has to do with kids transferring to basketball factories these days, or if it's just "team gets good, all kids want to play basketball, youth program gets better." But Wilsonville being in the state championship game four straight years and looking a decent bet to make it five seems a bit like kids transferring in to play for a winner.

Wilsonville's coach is also a bit extreme as far as what it was like when I was in high school. He has people taping every opponents games all over the state, tons more summer camps and practices, etc. Despite what Reichle has turned into for us, he is from Wilsonville and played a major role in most of those title runs. As far as Oregon 5A basketball is concerned, if you have a long tenured coach (Wilsonville's is in his 14th or 15th year) you can get your fingers into the youth teams of the city and get them all playing the way you want from the time they are 8. You get a system in place, and coach in a fairly affluent area, and you see that type of success. I don't think many, if any, of the WHS kids have transferred in. Their best player this year is the coach's kid who isn't going to play D1 I wouldn't think but is great at what he's supposed to do because he's been doing it that way ever since he started playing.
