all props to you and your research and to your sudden demands for a smoking hot seat. But what is that going to do exactly right now? Doubt Barnes walking in to Tinkle's office and saying hey everybody's yelling at me because you aren't making progress- doubt that is going to get the coaches coaching better or the team playing better. It might but that kind of in season tough talk doesn't usually achieve those ends. That's an end of season discussion isn't it? He wouldn't need to say anything. Just print out a sheet that lists the record for each season after GPII departed, and have two columns underneath. One titled, "Coaches' Sons" and the other "Rest of Team", and list all the averages per game. do you really want the athletic director telling the coaches to bench their sons? Or would you rather they arrive at that conclusion themselves? Because for sure THAT wont work. Hell, bobby dc couldnt even get Riley to shltcan his obviously done DC without Riley up and quitting.

Maybe we should go out a hire a proven head coach who has made it to 2 Elite 8's. Ernie Kent is tearing it up at WSU with a solid 52-80 record.
Be careful what you wish for.

Its not about benching, its about recruiting, or lack thereof. Their sons are doing a lot of heavy lifting, but there hasn't been much for additional big contributors or a supporting cast.

I've barely watched a lick of OSU basketball this year. Same sh*t, different year. They are frustrating and no fun to watch. It's like a broken record, win a majority of the OOC creampuff games but drop a couple you should win, then go into conference play and win a majority of home games but look like crap on the road and maybe win one game all year there.
I don't think Tinkle is a bad coach (see John, Jay). But he's not a great coach. And for OSU basketball to be a decent program competing for the NCAAs every year we need a great coach. I think I've seen enough in five years that he isn't the one to bring us back to the promised land. Our only decent season was because of one player, GPII. And I haven't seen any improvement in recruiting or anything. Other than getting the coaches' kids they have seemed to struggle in that area.

Here's another way to look at the current state of the program and the fan indifference toward the sport.
In the last 28 seasons from 1990-91 to last season OSU has had: 4 seasons > 0.500 4 seasons at 0.500 20 seasons < 0.500 1 NCAA appearance 1 NIT appearance
In the 28 seasons from 1962-63 to 1989-90 OSU had: 21 seasons > 0.500 2 seasons at 0.500 5 seasons < 0.500 12 NCAA appearances 3 NIT appearances
After having more than a generation of excellence in the sport, OSU fans have experienced a generation of ineptitude in men's basketball. You can't blame coaches, athletic directors, presidents, players, and the litany of other excuses for multiple decades of failure. They all changed over time but the results are the same.
The biggest impediment holding back OSU's athletics and the fan base is the attitude that "we can't.” This is our program and we need to demand more than we’re getting and until fans realize this, we'll get more of the same. If you want better accountability from your sports programs, you're going to have to ask for it - over and over again.
And stop listening to the folks that are making excuses for the status quo. Tinkle's seat should be smoking hot right now - it's time for him to prove that he's got the right stuff, right now.

Tinkle should be on a smoking hot seat, but he's not. The fact that he's not says a lot about us. Fans that know basketball can see what's not working on this team despite the current record and they can see that this is a systemic underlying coaching issue that will not suddenly go away. Now, end of the season, or end of the next - it doesn't really matter.

If 7 straight head coaches (couting Mouton) can't get it done, certainly firing Tinkle (who has had 1 season <0.500) will be the instant fix OSU needs.

No one wanted Ernie when he was avail. Musselman is doing pretty good and this other guy named Howland.

This is a great thread full of real incendiary stuff:
1. Shot blockers should not jump. 2. AD should demand the two best players on the team be benched for.....trying to hard? For not being better? I’m not sure. 3. Let’s throw in Mike Riley just to really stir the pot. Surprised nobody brought up a certain stolen sheep or that girl in library to really get people talking. 4. Fans are the real problem. 30 years of mediocre basketball laid at your feet. This is the equivalent of blaming the announcer for mentioning a guy has a no-hitter going for a bloop single in the 9th.
Keep it up guys!

And... IMHO... should include the same demand for excellence in decision making. Especially concerning administrative support for the Pac12 network, commissioner, etc.

He wants Tinkle fired, and shows up every time we lose. I guess there's a little of that in most beav fans right now. I'm at about 30% fire him asap.
