Hopkins and Paige Bueckers won a Minnesota state championship yesterday. Paige is a generational player. I have no idea how hard the staff is recruiting her and I haven’t seen the two associated much, but it would be amazing if Paige ended up in Corvallis. I would assume she will release a top (x) soon, and it would be very encouraging if the Beavs were on it. May be a long shot.

An Oregon fan on a different forum site shared they had heard rumors that Clark was deciding between Oregon and Notre Dame. I am hopeful that is nothing more than a rumor.

I think that is just a wishful thinking rumor, but it's certainly possible. Regarding Paige Bueckers, the one sign of encouragement would be that she follows beaverwbb, coaches SR, JC, KF, as well as Destiny, Kennedy, and Sydney W on twitter. She's also following Pac=12 basketball on twitter. She is following other coaches and players, but the Beavs are pretty well represented. Yes, I still think it's a long shot, but there is obvious interest between Paige and the Beavs.
One other positive would be that you will often see her mention God, which seems to be a common thing with a number of Beaver players as well.
I would really like to see the Beavs get an early commitment from one of their top targets. It would be great to get an early jump on 2020 recruits.

Paige Bueckers to UConn:
Bueckers' other finalists were Notre Dame, Oregon State, Oregon, UCLA, Minnesota, South Carolina, Maryland, Texas and Duke.
Van Lith is the silver lining here!

No. And everyone is after her. Word is, Kim Mulkey has visited her twice. I imagine that they had to put a new traffic light in at the end of her street to handle the traffic.

Has Van Lith verballed to us? We could only dream..! Did you hear she did? A commitment from Van Lith or Clark would be huge for 2020 since we really need a PG in that class.

I’m a little surprised Mulkey is recruiting her so hard, just because Sarah Andrews is another extremely highly ranked PG right in Texas. In fact, she even attends MacArthur, which is a school Kim has recruited well from (Odyssey Sims). Leave the PNW alone, Kim.

No, but the poster said Van Lith was the silver lining so that implied she was on board. I think that post is explained by the rumor on the UConn board (mentioned previously on this board) that HVL was down to UConn and Oregon State. Which, if true, would suggest we might now have the best shot at landing her.

That's the way I read it as well. Don't know if the part about narrowing it down to just us and Connecticut is accurate, but one would think Buecker going there would eliminate Connecticut from her thinking. Also, the flip side: I don't know Connecticut's actual needs or wants for next year, but 2 point guards probably doesn't fit. So I would guess their interest in Van Lith has waned, and Geno will be just fine with her attending school 3,000 miles from Storrs.

What team would want two excellent point guards in the same class?
I wouldn't bet that uconn has lost interest in her just for that reason.

Bueckers is pretty much a lock at PG for UConn for all 4 years. I just don’t seeing Van Lith wanting to be behind her. In the past, she has said she is a PG or G, but she pretty much explicitly said “One reason I’m committing to UConn is because their PG is graduating and I’m a PG.” Our PG may be behind Goodman or Slocum, but they will play entirely for 3 years, while likely behind a first/second guard sub off the bench as a freshman.
I’ve heard the down to UConn/Oregon State, but at this point, it seems pretty wide open. Oregon and Baylor are definitely in the thick of it all too. I’m just worried she chooses one of them and Clark chooses ND. Clark to Oregon wouldn’t surprise me either. She is a huge Ionescu fan.

Maybe the chances of Van Lith going to UCONN have diminished, but I wouldn't write that one off yet. Bueckers and Van Lith are close friends that have expressed interest in playing together, Van Lith has reportedly always been interested in UCONN, and Bueckers has sometimes referred to herself as a combo guard. After saying all of that, I still don't expect Van Lith to go to UCONN, but I don't think it's over. She obviously is still open to Baylor, and others, so we can't count our chickens yet.
I would really like to get a commitment soon to get the ball rolling........and before all our top targets commit somewhere else. Hopefully, we will get good news from Goforth next month. Although the interest from Clark is real, I have a feeling it is Oregon or Notre Dame for her. (that's just a feeling, no knowledge).
There are a lot of good point guards in the 2020 class, so that is the good news. The other thing to always keep an eye on these days is transfers. Tranfers may not play as big a role as recruiting, but it it a big role in the college game these days.
