That would of been a great game to watch. I'm guessing Jersey and Kelbie Washington played too, so lots of potential future Beavs in that game. Did anyone tune in? Saw this tweet from Katie F today. "One week until I get to call some of the coolest people in the whole wide world. Countdown to September 1!" In reference to being able to contact recruits. Savannah Samuels 'liked" the tweet. I'm really curious to see if the Beavs will invite her out for an official visit. I did tune in. Sasha and Jersey’s team was completely outmatched, as they played the 4 and 5 on offense and defense, guarding 6-3 Olivia Cochran and 6-6 Kamilla Cardoso. Sasha got off to a hot start, but wore down as it went on. FBC starts all top-40 recruits, while Goforth and Wolfenbarger are the Banshees only top-100. As for Samuels, she didn’t play or do a whole lot, but it will be interesting to see if she visits OSU once we’re back from Italy. Also, Coach Katie’s tweet was referencing 2021 players, coaches can officially contact them directly starting September 1st.

Some updates on a pair of targets: - Savannah Samuel is on an official visit to Alabama this weekend; believed to be her first official visit. - Dalayah Daniels is visiting Cal this weekend; she visited UCLA a few weekends ago.

I'm still hoping for good news from DD...Like HVL, she is keeping news of her recruitment to a minimum... She might be a bit nervous about the talent stockpile here at OSU....But, on the other hand, I can see Coach selling her on the idea that with her athleticism and size she is a natural replacement for Taya Corosdale.
It will be interesting to see if she schedules an OV with the Beavs...If it happens we should hear about it in the next couple of weeks.. I have an uneasy feeling about her...She may want a more "urban" university environment than Corvallis offers... GO BEAVS !!.

It looks like the Beavs are recruiting only top of the line, premiere players..... Taylor Bigby, out of perennial powerhouse Centennial High, was recently voted Nevada POY.Maddie Scheer, who rmancarl referred to above, was recently voted Kentucky POY...At this stage of their careers it is hard to receive higher recognition. Interesting to me is that the Beavs seem not to have found a single player from California to pursue....At least none that have been brought to our attention.. That is where the talent is for West Coast schools. Not sure what to make of it - perhaps nothing at all..... GO BEAVS !! Taylor Bigby just verballed to tsdtr.

I kinda hate the thought of seeing HVL at any of those 4 schools. Probably Baylor most of all though.

Van Lith has eliminated Oregon State: down to UO, Baylor, Louisville, and UCLA. Lots of effort and energy was expended in recruiting Van Lith. Very disappointed that she didn't opt for an official visit to OSU. I know that she attended camps in Corvallis over the years, but granting OSU an official visit would have been an appropriate reward for the numerous hours that OSU coaches followed her around the globe. Would prefer that she select Baylor or Louisville. She will be an outstanding collegiate player. A high motor player who clearly competes on every possession.

I don’t think the OSU style is what Hailey and her father were looking for.

I'm with you on this one. Much prefer that she take her game out of conference...I rate her game as truly outstanding. Signing her would have made the Beavs an immediate Final Four threat. She would do for the Beavs what Destiny did, only moreso....
It's water under the bridge now.....But great teams must have great players. Not good players. Coach Wooden said it - - but it's true even if he didn't...HVL was, in my view, one of those great players around whom Championship teams are built...Now coach and staff need to keep going, track down other great players and reel them in. Problem is, there simply aren't that many great players to be found....
That's why I repeat: Damn. Crap. Bad news. Hate to lose her. GO BEAVS !!

I think this is a conundrum that our WBB program now faces. We are now among the elite, perennial Sweet-16/"threat to advance to Elite 8" programs. Beaver WBB culture is one of "team is bigger than player"/selfless/humble/family oriented environments, which I greatly admire and enjoy. However, many of those "generational" players are building their own brand more than subsuming themselves, and if you are a generational player (or believe you are), in this day and age, that might be the way to go.......
Quite honestly, what worried me when I sampled HVL's twitter feed, is she would definitely fit my definition of "personal brand builder" - and, for better or worse, our culture might appeal less to that genre of player. Contrast Mik's twitter feed - I can't find a single re-tweet from her that features her - to this day she has not worried about building her personal brand. Unfortunately there are only so many Pivecs......
Again - not my place to critique how people want to live their lives - I am just observing that the culture and player personality that we so admire as part of Beaver WBB may actually be an impediment to recruiting the "generational" players that seem to be what propel some of those Final Four teams. I enjoy how our bench interacts and how our players carry themselves collectively, and it is obvious to me that some of these other teams do not possess our kind of culture or closeness among the players. But (as I tell my kids), we all make choices, and choices have consequences, and one consequence of our culture choice is some of these top players may not see how they fit. Leads to a delicious conversation on "can a tight knit team of really talented players overcome a looser knit team of really talented players that includes one or more 'generational' player?".....but a topic for another day.
Go Beavers!

I can understand people not wanting OSU to have to face HVL multiple times in conference. But West Coast talent going east is not a good thing in my mind. Never has been and never will be. And I just don't like Baylor. If she picks them and helps them win another Championship, that would not make me happy.
