I like that he is a coach's son. Not sure what kind of competition he plays against now, but certainly puts up some big numbers.
Welcome Jarod.

"Lucas also currently holds offers from the likes of Albany, Cal State-Northridge, Fresno State, Montana, Nevada, Tulane, UC-Irvine, UNLV and Utah Valley."
I think this qualifies as "lightly recruited" from the Power 5 conferences.

Nevada, for one, appears to be better than a lot of Power Five conference teams.

Nevada, for one, appears to be better than a lot of Power Five conference teams. Yes, Nevada is a top 20 team that made it to the sweet 16 last year and may be even better next year. Also, it is not as though UNLV is an awful program either.

I think this qualifies as "lightly recruited" from the Power 5 conferences. I'm not sure that there are five (5) Power 5 conferences...the Pac 12 doesn't seem to qualify and it looks like it needs to catch up to the Mountain West Conference.
Unless and until we can become as good as Nevada, Fresno State, or UNLV, I'll take beating out those schools for some of our recruits.

I think this qualifies as "lightly recruited" from the Power 5 conferences. Power-5 matters in football. It kinda means squat in Basketball. St. Mary's school for the deaf, dumb and blind can cobble together 13 scholarships. there is 350 D1 teams compared to 125 D-1 football teams. Villanova... ahem, the national champion, is not power 5. Gonazaga is not power 5. Connecticut is not power 5. This past season, 7 of the final to 25 teams were non-power 5 schools. and Nevada, whom Lucas had an offer from, finished the season ranked 24th with a 29-8 record. Montana made the NCAA tourney last year... Fresno State won the conference in 2016 and made the NCAA tournament, and made the NIT in 2017... In otherwords, several teams that are currently better than OSU recruited him.

From the videos I've watched of him, he certainly has a scorer's mentality, which the team will need after this year. And though his offer list might not be great, his 247 rating is pretty similar to what Hollins' was (.8878 vs. .8930). Then again JaQuori's rating was quite a bit higher than both of theirs and we know how that turned out. Regardless, his commitment puts the Beavers' 2019 class currently at #15 on 247, so we've got that going for us.

Los Altos moved up to D1 in CA HS, so that's the real deal. If he's putting up those kind of numbers, particularly come the playoffs, that would be pretty exciting. Doesn't look like he plays on a team that just feeds him either - looks to have good vision and passes well.
He doesn't strike me as athletically gifted, but gets it done between being a good shooter and also a variety of off-angle shots (floaters, semi-hooks, scoops, etc - likes to go to the basket and find the open angle to the basket, even if it's an awkward angle to release.)
I like the pick-up. I worry a bit about his game translating against D1 defense, but the kid is pretty smooth. Not a sure thing, but looks like someone who can help.
Here's a game from this summer where he doesn't play particularly well, but you get some idea:
He's going against a team with Solomon Davis and Judah Brown (D1 prospects, the latter who just committed to St. Mary's), so that's very good competition.
Doesn't look like he has much for next-level talent around him, but their team looks like their are ranked in the upper 1/3rd of D1 teams in CA, so he seems to be elevating them.

And not that his athleticism isn't very good, I just meant he's not Jarrod Cunningham. But not a worry either:
