Have you seen game film of him? Anyone? I wonder if he is more a point guard or more a two-guard. Could he be a little like Trae Young? Or is he more in the Stevie Thompson and Roberto Nelson mode? Were we his only power 5 offer? Is so, why? He scores a bizillion points in one of the best high school leagues in America and it seems like he'd have his choice of schools. Should we expect nothing more than a role player his first two years?

Were we his only power 5 offer? Is so, why? He scores a bizillion points in one of the best high school leagues in America and it seems like he'd have his choice of schools. Should we expect nothing more than a role player his first two years? There is a link to video on first page of this thread. I think he is a bit of a tweener guard and that is probably what has hurt his offers. 247 has him listed at 6-2 and a combo guard. On the tape I've seen he he scores at all three levels, but doesn't seem to have great athleticism, explosiveness or quickness (not bad but just top notch). So you have to wonder if he'll be able to get all those shots at the next level with being 6-2, though I have seen him listed as tall as 6-4. So if he can't score like he has, can he be a point? Maybe. As to lack of offers, I'm not sure what team he played with in AAU and how much exposure he got so that might be part of it too. I'm not really sure what to expect early on, but I think he'll need some adjustment time and likely a role player early on. If I had to guess (and this is really a WAG), I'd say maybe Kendall Manuel like numbers his freshman year. Hopefully I'm wrong and he is a big contributor right out of the gate.

I haven't seen much- there's a YT video earlier in the thread. His best other offers were Nevada and UNLV. He doesn't look to have elite athleticism (but not shabby either) - so the question seems to be if his game can translate against more physical/athletic defenders. That said, he's gone up against other D1 prospects and hasn't been slowed much so far.
He scores a lot of points at the FT line. Teams double/triple-team him and he still gets defenders on their heels and can draw fouls going to the rim. He has range so defenders pick him up very early. He won't get away with some of his penetration with D1 rim defenders, but he might still be able to draw fouls getting into the lane. He also appears to be a pretty good passer and sees the floor well, but he looks like a combo guard to me. Seems to operate best with the ball in his hands rather than coming off screens, which is true for a lot of players these days (including much of our current roster). So he will either need to play PG to play his current style, or adapt his game to be a SG.
I'm optimistic about him primarily because he looks so versatile; he just seems to have a knack for scoring rather than a specific set of polished skills that he relies on. But his game style will have to adapt to D1 players for him to be an effective scorer at the next level, and that risk is probably why his offers don't match with his torrid scoring pace.

Lucas scored 49 points tonight. Obviously no way to know how he will do in college, but he’s having a heck of a senior high school season.

Averaging 42.5 points in Jan and they keep winning. Needs 52 now to be #1, one regular season game left.
Playoffs will be more telling as the competition will step up.

I was going to say just the opposite, but about his 2 teammates at the top of the key that did exactly the same thing. I get the shooter, I guess, but those 2 guys? Guess that's modern hoops for you. Either that or they're very used to him draining it!
