Since JS has been hired visible results of recruiting are negligible.
0 new commitments.
1 lost commitment in early signing period (Petras).
Usually, a change in coaching creates a bump up in recruiting as recruits buy into "hope" for the future.
Is it time for SB to remove all the coffee from the Valley Center, since "Coffee is for closers".
Note to JS and gang. Time to close a few deals. I think there are roughly two weeks to LOI day. We should be looking at 10 more signings. That means 5 this week and 5 next week. Or we hire a spin doctor to tell that it is better to "save" a few schollies.

You should just keep cheering for Arizona. You have no idea what's going on.

Actually. Yes. It’s time to close some deals.

Not sure where you came up with this statement but a change in coaching actually results in decommits as well as an outflow of existing players... considering we only lost one commit and one to the draft (early)... I wouldn't say we are sitting pretty but we are in the same boat as AZ, AZ st., UCLA and all the other schools that have new staff in place...

I couldn’t disagree more. Usually recruits bail out is my observation.

It could also mean 3 this week, and 7 next week. Wait! Maybe 6 this week and 4 next week. Wait! There’s so many possibilities! Not just 5 and 5!

Why would commits of 5 and 5 happen? We could get 15 "commits"or none and none... cuz nothing matters until Feb signing date. And, I believe we signed 11, and have 14 slots to sign plus walk ons. Commits mean diddly squat. Let's see what happens on signing day

I think we score a couple commits here from the last weekend group, and I think JS and crew are prowling the JC ranks pretty hard right now.

Prep recruits require a longer getting-to-know process because they want to know everything about how the next 5 years of their life are going to look so they can make a decision. Jukes are looking at the depth chart and the coaches. Convince them that there is a spot for them to play right away and they will have a stellar coach to help develop them and they're in. We aren't getting a bunch of talented prep kids in this class, and no amount of coffee or closers is going to change that. But we might get a bunch of good Juco guys.

From the grain of salt/whatever it's worth department:
247 Sports has a few of our recent and upcoming visitors as 100% to OSU in their crystal ball predictions. I really have no idea how accurate they are.. but they have these guys as 100% OSU at the moment:
Luke Brockermeyer - OLB (currently Rice commit) Jan 12 visitor Joshua Gray - OT - Jan 12 visitor Jermar Jefferson - RB - Jan 26 visitor? Offers from Colorado and Rutgers Semisi Saluni - OLB - Jan 26 visitor Kemon Smith - DT - Feb 2 visitor
- Have us leading for OT Ronnie Audette and no prediction for TE/DE John McCartan (1/26 visitor).
- Colletto says he's choosing between Vandy and OSU. Visiting Vandy this weekend.
Another one they have at 100% OSU is Victor Terry OLB who was once committed to WSU. Have no idea if we are still recruiting him though since he visited back in September and was originally recruited by Hall. Goes to Cathedral HS in LA (same school as Jeffrey Manning Jr and Arex Flemings)

My guess is we get 8 on signing day with 2-3 more later.

I think having 2 signing periods is resulting in fewer "early commits" during the second signing period for everyone. With the early signing period in the books, schools can take stock of what they have and then go after recruits to fill the void that they might not have had much contact with previously. So for recruits still on the board, it makes sense to wait and see who might offer you. Look at Purdy. He now has an offer from Alabama when a month prior that would have been a pipe dream. So in some ways this second signing period might have helped the new staff -- giving them a chance to get in on new recruits.

Semisi Saluni is a mission kid.....nothing to see there.
Colletto is a Vandy lean, that said and our current luck with QBs......wouldn't count on him.
