It certainly doesn’t show in the posts I’ve been making recently, but I am always ridiculously optimistic when it comes to rooting for my football teams.
I have to say that I am a bit more confident in our ability to have a decent offense this year now that my favorite whipping boy is back in the QB saddle.
The Luton offense was NOT working. I have serious doubts it ever was going to work. The running QB offense might actually be semi-effective. I have disregarded the 2016 passing stats, and gone back and looked at DGs stats from 2013 and 2014. The passing stats are actually quite respectable. Funny enough, he did not show as a particularly efficient runner in his USU days.
I’m hanging my hat on the possibility that DG was seriously injured during his run of games last year, and that was just not the real DG. Mostly because if that WAS the real DG, we’re looking at Paul Wulff @ WSU level debacle.

Even when healthy he was terribly inaccurate on any ball over 15 yards. All the hopes that the run game will improve withe true read option guy flies in the face of (2) things; >the OL SUX in the worst way possible... and it seems we are not deep as very little changes no matter how poorly a guy grades out! >defenses will load the box and take chances with man coverage on the outside to try to make DG's arm beat them. *then of course there is the defense. Down three scores running read option is back to the JP days of yore!

One would THINK that with DG as our starter, we would go back to the offense we used last year, in that California win, and on display against Oregon. Run first, read option, passing off of play action that defenders have to respect. But we are talking about Anderpants here, so I fully expect whatever we see against UW to be completely nonsensical and a complete mismatch to talent on the field. Expect us to see DG under center taking 7 step drops all game.

Get creative in the run game, let's see some pitch option to press those slot defenders wider away from the LOS to make room for Nall. Not 10 times, but twice. Surprise a team for once and make them second guess. Get some easy screens completed early to build confidence and then find the TEs on the seam.

Coach GA. You have two weeks to prepare for the huskies. Put double deuce under center with Nall behind him and turn 'em loose. WTF you have lose? Nall needs a break, you have Pierce, Johnson and Tyner. Collins can do alot of things including passing. May not be the most accurate, but WTF? MB.

That reminds me of "I'm from the Government and I'm here to help."
But that's what it is so I'm behind DG!

DG has had about a year to practice throwing the football. Isn't there a chance that he might have improved his glaring weakness as a QB??

I never thought I'd say this, but if DG is now the starter, I'm somewhat excited to watch Beaver Football.

Yeah, if you had told me back in July I'd ever write a message of hope about DG being the starter, I would not have believed it. I'd suggest not looking at last year's stat sheet - it'll jar you right out of that mindset. SaveSave
