It certainly doesn’t show in the posts I’ve been making recently, but I am always ridiculously optimistic when it comes to rooting for my football teams. I have to say that I am a bit more confident in our ability to have a decent offense this year now that my favorite whipping boy is back in the QB saddle. The Luton offense was NOT working. I have serious doubts it ever was going to work. The running QB offense might actually be semi-effective. I have disregarded the 2016 passing stats, and gone back and looked at DGs stats from 2013 and 2014. The passing stats are actually quite respectable. Funny enough, he did not show as a particularly efficient runner in his USU days. I’m hanging my hat on the possibility that DG was seriously injured during his run of games last year, and that was just not the real DG. Mostly because if that WAS the real DG, we’re looking at Paul Wulff @ WSU level debacle. One would THINK that with DG as our starter, we would go back to the offense we used last year, in that California win, and on display against Oregon. Run first, read option, passing off of play action that defenders have to respect. But we are talking about Anderpants here, so I fully expect whatever we see against UW to be completely nonsensical and a complete mismatch to talent on the field. Expect us to see DG under center taking 7 step drops all game. I expect lots of 5 step drops and deep hitches.

I never thought I'd say this, but if DG is now the starter, I'm somewhat excited to watch Beaver Football. Yeah, if you had told me back in July I'd ever write a message of hope about DG being the starter, I would not have believed it. I'd suggest not looking at last year's stat sheet - it'll jar you right out of that mindset. SaveSaveFacts and statistics have no place on an internet message board. BeaverNation would do well to rely less on facts and more on faith/Voodoo/Divine Intervention or animal sacrifice.

I've been thinking about this all week: Remember how after the Minnesota game last year, we were all thinking DG was gonna be just fine? I remember being impressed with him despite the loss. Well....after that game I was never impressed with him again, and it seemed to me he was either hurt or scared of getting hurt after getting blown up by Devers a couple times in that game against the Gophers.
He came in and looked good vs. WSU. Now he's got UW and USC on deck. No matter how good he plays, we aren't winning those games, and I'd say there's a near certainty he gets blown up at least once or twice. How does he respond to that? Is he going to slide on every scramble? Doesn't seem to be his style, but if he doesn't that's more hits he's gonna take.
If you're UW, don't you blitz the hell out of him the first few series? Make him prove he can make the throws. I think we might move the ball better initially, but for how long?

Nall is going to feel like there are about 25 huskies stacked in the box until DG shows he can complete a pass or 2 or 5 downfield. I just checked, the most they can stack in the box is actually 11. Anyhow.. should one of us tell our OC? I feel like he will be caught off guard by this.

Two words: Wishbone Shotgun.
Two weeks of practice to install this radical intervention.
And for the record, not all of JB's tenure was a rolling dumpster fire. I was at the toilet bowl when JB's seniors were carried off the field.

Wait what? The Toilet Bowl was in '83. Avezzano was our coach. Pettibone (JP is how I would abbreviate it) won twice against Oregon, both times in Eugene: 1991 (14-13 for our only win of the season and probably the game you're referencing) and 1993 (15-12 to finish 4-7).

The 91 game I believe. He had his players practice carrying the seniors off the field during the week leading up to the Civil War.

I think Autzen is the toilet bowl. The Toilet Bowl was played in the toilet bowl back in 1983.

Upper case Toilet Bowl= evidence why many assistant coaches should not be in charge of program. PJ=Perry Jettibone, because I effed up his initials in my original post.
