Loooots of Notre Dame talk in this postgame show. And when they talk about OSU, they go into Cintroen highlights. Thanks for nothing, ESPN. If I was to give them a benefit of doubt, could it be that since they get to talk about Oregon State for a few more days they're just putting a cap on ND this season? If the Beavs lose to SC and it's all about SC after the game we'll know that theory is crap. My orange tinted glasses are as opaque as anyone’s. But it’s an undeniable fact that the ND fan base is orders of magnitude larger than OSU’s. No surprise that would color their postgame perspective.

That was an incredibly smart play. If her feet are even on the ground when she tips it, it's a travel. It was a good play, but unless it’s changed recently, I’m pretty sure that would only be a travel in the NBA. Yea, now you have me really curious. The NBA does this with self-ally oops, but this was not a tipped shot. From what I can find, it seems she could have actually come down with the rebound even, as long as the refs saw her shot as legitimate. This guy seems to have the rule correct from what I can find: www.tiktok.com/@r2bball/video/7324875579939949866

Ok, time for the naysayers to claim that USC/Paopao are too fast and athletic for the Beav's to have a chance.
Preseason I said the Beav's would be a ranked team this year. Check!
Pretourney I predicted being in the final four. Didn't know that would have to be through USC but just one game away from being 2/2.

Left hotel in Anaheim at 11:00 am. Shuttled to airport. Arrived at airport JUST as I got text that our flight was 43 mins delayed. Immediately pissed. Too nervous (and pissed) to stream game. Had a couple adult beverages at airport, and paid MORE for two drinks than I would 1.75 liters at home. Didn’t give a s%#t. Both my sons texted me (knowing me) that the Beavs pulled it out!! Hallelujah!

A few thoughts:
The team that Notre Dame was able to put on the floor today is good, but, absent our shooting ourselves in the foot so frequently, they're nowhere near as good as we are. That could have been a blowout. I think they finish about 6th in this year's PAC 12.
I would like to see how many of the 26 turnovers were unforced - traveling, throwing the ball to somebody in the front row, ten second calls (!). I'd bet at least half.
In the last half of the regular schedule, and into the postseason, Timea Gardiner has played like an All American. She has been absolutely fabulous on both ends of the floor, and has come into her own. She and Raegan have definitely lived up to their high school hype.
That was a terrific game by Dono playing against the much heralded Hidalgo. Her play toward the end of the game, draining that 3 and making that steal, won it for us. Rae, Timea, and Dono - what a trio of underclassmen. The future is bright indeed!
Talia can drive you crazy and seem to just get lost for long periods of time. But, at the end of the game, who else do you want on the floor? Made 4 free throws, blocked that shot and then got possession of the ball. At the end of a game like that, the team that makes a couple of outstanding plays wins. Talia, Timea, and Dono did that for us.
That win probably seals the deal for the whole team returning next year. Who wants to leave a program that has accomplished what this one has?
Just as importantly, it guarantees that we'll finish this year ranked in the top 10, PLUS, no matter what conference we're playing in next year, we'll be a preseason top 5 pick. This is HUGELY important for the ongoing success of the program and our ability to garner top seeds in the NCAA tournament.
The 2025 recruitment bell has just been rung. Current juniors in high school hadn't seen much from us the last few years. Our phenomenal success this year, combined with Oregon's phenomenal lack of success, might open the eyes of the likes of Jazzy Davidson.
I think I've enjoyed this team more than any of the others in the Rueck era, and I loved the hell out of many of those others. To be so young and accomplish what they have, to be such a likable bunch of kids, to buy into the coaching scheme so completely, and to see so many of them show such great improvement throughout the year - I just love it! I'll hate to see it end, even if it ends with a national championship.

If the Beavs lose to SC and it's all about SC after the game we'll know that theory is crap. They know what they want to talk about in their pre-game meeting, they have their prepared notes, their narrative. We disrupted that, and as we've seen throughout the tourney, the host isn't adept enough to ad-lib intelligently when the script veers off course. Had the result been different, no way would they have spent that amount of time on OSU. That's just the way it is. The Irish are a national brand. We aren't. Same deal as at the Fiesta Bowl, when they were still playing up the revival of ND football when they were 38 points down in the fourth quarter. That's just TV. At least the host learned how to correctly pronounce Albany. Oh well, happy enough that we won to let ESPN ruin the day.

Just a weird coincidence that opposition phenoms keep having a bad games against us. Hunter was the best freshman on the court today, just as she was against USC. Media might notice eventually. It was interesting to see how much Hildago. She had a 4 TO game, tieing her tights on the season (UA and Utah matched). But I thought she was more flustered by Hildago than even Sherrod - she was really slow getting the offense initiated. Hildago definitely had a significant impact on the game defensively, nobody was comfortable at all whenever she was in the vicinity (and I don't blame them). What surprised me about Hunter is that she looked pretty comfortable handling the ball around Hildago in the first quarter, but she looked increasingly uncomfortable as the game progressed. Huge confidence boost for her that she was guarded by Hildago most of the game and Hildago goes under her season average on steals. Despite the huge challenge of having to play the point against Hidalgo, Hunter's 3-pt at 2:51 left in the game was a cool cucumber moment, which put the Beavs back in the lead. .. ...which they never surrendered. From that point on, the lead fluctuated between one and seven points.

Thank God the Beavers won. Grayman would have posted forever complaining about the refs. Where did I post that I thought the refs were biased for Notre Dame? I have no problem admitting that I don't think highly of college women's basketball officiating in general. If OSU had lost, it would have been due to too many turnovers

FYI, I hate the announcers, I hate the refs. No biases.
So happy the announcers let us know that the ND coach was wearing a Prada jacket. In depth analysis there I tell ya.

Nobody’s talking about Hidalgo’s nose ring fiasco. It clearly threw her body completely out of balance. Shrewd move by OSU to bring it to the ref’s attention. (snarcasm)

Well Indiana kept it closer than I thought they would. I didn't watch. I'll get to see South Carolina the next game.
Hmm...post game they are talking about the winners this time. Big surprise huh.
