Timea had 4 blocks today including a back to back. Not to be overlooked, Lily has a total of 4 in the tournament so far.
The blocks really messed with Nebraska's heads. They were hesitant to go inside.
Nebraska's coach gave props to Beaver nation for creating a very difficult environment to play in. Favorably compared us to the big Midwest schools. The old barn was really rocking today. 7,227 to break the school record with 103,110 for the season.
On to the next one. I don't think this team is ready for their season to end.
For what is worth, AJ played some stifling defense today. She was in their face regardless if they had the ball or not. Her game has really improved this year to where she is a lock down defender. Now if she would continue to develop her mid range jumper she could become the complete package.

More so with Beers on the bench. Not a "Reagan" issue, but SR just is so focused on pounding it, the ball stays on one side and players stand. The strength of this team, they can do both. But, early I'm 2nd into the 3rd... stagnant and forced. OSU has 29 (of 48) attempts from 3... far too many and most just not in any flow. I still think Marotte forces a 4 on 5 situation way too often but this is a very good point and something that has been happening pretty much all season without any adjustment by Rueck. Grayman, it's not that I disagree with you, but you single out Marotte for not scoring, but no mention of Hunter. Is that because Dono is the point and provides assist? I thought this was a major problem last year when only Raegan and Talia seemed to be scoring threats and that put a lot of pressure on Talia who was playing injured. AJ only plays 20 minutes per game, so it's not like she is playing 30+. She has all the physical attributes that lead you to believe she should be a scorer, but that has yet to translate in her game. She has such a nice mid-range shot as well. I keep waiting for her to have a breakout year, but it just hasn't happened. She's a great addition to this team, but I expect Dom and Lily will continue to eat into AJ's playing time next season. Together, they make a solid wing group.

Dammit, no horseplay in the locker room!!
Scott nearly stepped on Kennedie’s bare foot. (Yeah, I’m a killjoy).

I giggled when Nebraska commented about how athletic and quick the Beav's were.

It's hard not to like the Nebraska team, they're very gracious and not full of themselves

Yes, the fact that Hunter is the point guard makes a big difference. Hunter actually scores a little bit more than Marotte anyway (6.6 ppg to 5.3) and shoots a higher percentage from the field. But the biggest gap is where it should be for a point guard. Hunter has 120 assists to 42 for Marotte. Hunter also has 24 steals to Marotte's 6. IMO Hunter brings significantly more value to the team when she's on the court than Marotte although it's a bit of apples and oranges when it comes to their roles. I would also point out that Hunter is a true freshman and Marotte is a junior so she's had three seasons for those physical attributes to translate to her game and has one more year for that breakout year. I agree, you've got to give Dom minutes and probably Lily a few more as well. I would cut Marotte's in half unless she clearly has the hot hand. I know I harp on Marotte but I really don't have anything against her and would be happy if she became a go-to scorer. But there's just not enough production to keep her on the floor IMO. I think Rueck takes a sort of comfort in her game because it seems as if she does everything he wants her to do on defense and she's not particularly prone to making mistakes. I believe that leads to a certain level of denial as far as her real value to the team. Particularly when they need scoring.

Mental image of the game. I hope someone got it on film but if not I'll just have to keep my memory. As soon as the final buzzer sounded the Beavers ran onto the court. TVO was looking around and as soon as she saw AJ she ran up to her and they shared a long and strong hug. Those two have been through so much together that it made the moment all that much more intense. If it weren't for those two Beaver basketball would be so different today. They stayed when the mass exodus occurred and gave the program credibility. Stat of the game. 21 assists on 22 baskets! Top right picture. x.com/BeaverWBB/status/1772035538289340657?s=20

When AJ arrived as a freshman, I thought "we have a slasher". Her game seemed to be fake the three, then drive the baseline. Move without the ball. Put the ball on the floor and drive as though going to the basket put stopping for that 15 - 17 foot jumper. Speed on the wing for the occasional fast breaks, and size to rebound. All that Dom is now.
Did she not score 20+ in a non-conference game this year from mostly mid-range? Lately she is quoted as saying she came her to win. She puts together the welcoming committee for the new players with first day escorts to class. She asks random students to come and support the team at games. She is all in.
Watching Dom, it is almost as if she plays her game when SR might want her to play more in his system. Her European game already had her playing older players in a more open game where athleticism made a huge difference. Dom has learned to maximize hers. Thankfully SR has let her have her head.
My feeling on AJ is she buys 100% into the system even at the loss of her offensive game. She is told to run to the corner 3 and stand. Shoot the 3. That was not her game, but she does what the coach says as "I came here to win". She has traded offense for defense, as she is often on the other team's best scorer. Watch who calls the switch when the ballhandler takes her into a screen. She, TVO, and Dom can really take the legs out the opponents best outside scorer by the end of the game as SR rotates them for constant pressure.
Somethings have to done in a game for team success that don't show up in the box score. Somebody has to do it. I just hope AJ shoots 500 threes a day in the offseason preparing for next year.

Best AJ post of the year.
AJ starts because AJ understands (and executes) the scout better than anyone. The players say it over and over, that what makes this team special is that they can trust each other - that is, they trust their teammates to handle their defensive assignments and to be in their spots on offense. As fans, that effects of that trust are invisible - we don't see all the bad passes that didn't happen or the defensive help that wasn't necessary because everyone had the assignments locked down. But the coaches and other players know.
AJ and Talia set the tone. Both of them have given up stats and glory for the sake of the team and the joy of winning, and that has rubbed off on all the younger players.

One last question about the Nebraska game. Did Aleah Goodman ever play against Jaz Shelly when she was at uo?
