In his first public comments in months, Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff did not express sorrow over the downfall of the conference or accept responsibility for his role in the collapse of a century-old college sports institution.
Instead, Kliavkoff appeared to take credit for the Pac-12′s successful football season and blame the schools for the failed media rights negotiations.Kliavkoff speaks

It's going to be hard to get rid of him without paying alot of money Which, of course according to him, he completely deserves. But you are probably correct.

The dudes a tool, but the conference was already dead by the time he arrived. It just happened to actually die on his watch. Also, what did he do for the football season? Over payed dips%#t.

Gotta point out that Barnes had been quoted as saying some schools were impatient as well. I believe he said they were "within hours" of a good media deal.
I don't think Kliavkoff should take any credit for the performance in football this year, but I don't think he should get the lion's share of the blame for the failing to reach a media deal.
He was there, but he inherited a storm when the previous guy was ousted, USC torpedoed his push for expansion about 30 days after he arrived at the job, there were a few University Presidents who didn't play well with others duringnegotiations, and the frigging economy turned a bit south at just the wrong time.
He'll be gone at some point, but he's not THE reason the Pac failed.

As commissioner it was his job to steer the 'anxious' schools back to the fold.

Kliavkoff is like King Kong beating his chest while clinging to a flagpole atop Weatherford Hall

Weatherford hall is an iconic building don't dirty it with using his name.

As commissioner it was his job to steer the 'anxious' schools back to the fold. "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Quite frankly, when it comes to media deals and the future of where media is going, I think a couple of Pac-12 Presidents were dumber and as stubborn as a horse.

So? Why hasn't the Pac2 already done so? What possible purpose, having demonstrated where his loyalties lie, does he have at this point? I say, rip off the band-aid and be done

A full audit (monetary and all communications) might actually lead to his resignation when they find out what he actually communicated to various members. If there's bad money, that will make it go more quickly. Otherwise, a buy-out will be the most likely path.

So theoretically GK is going to get a buyout that was negotiated as basically part of the settlement. The thought is that the university presidents agreed to this in order to avoid discovery. My question is, do OSU/WSU University Presidents have anything to fear from discovery? What is their motivation to pay GK out? Or is it just that the other 10 want to avoid discovery and OSU/WSU used this as leverage to get them to help pay George to go away? Is that what we are saying?
