So theoretically GK is going to get a buyout that was negotiated as basically part of the settlement. The thought is that the university presidents agreed to this in order to avoid discovery. My question is, do OSU/WSU University Presidents have anything to fear from discovery? What is their motivation to pay GK out? Or is it just that the other 10 want to avoid discovery and OSU/WSU used this as leverage to get them to help pay George to go away? Is that what we are saying? The article poses questions as do you. Nothing concrete is known of GK's contract... amount or length. Or at least I would think this "fishwrapper" could find out some general details?! The article makes some educated guesses on the amount and term. It also raises the possibilities of firing for cause, settlement, or just paying out the "estimated" contract. My guess is that most of the Pac12 are tired of the courtroom and would propose a settlement offer to cash him out now, or just come up with about $240k (based on the article's estimate) per school to pay him off over the term (estimated) of the contract. But, there was no settlement on GK's contract specific to GK. It was basically included in future liabilities that is the responsibility of all 12 members.

In business I have seen millions of dollars left sitting on the table simply because nobody wanted to deal with the headache, so I tend to agree with your assessment that they will probably try to pay him to go away and be done with it. Me, I'm a little more spiteful and I tend to want my pound of flesh. But I have come to realize in my wisdom granted by age and experience, that it takes a certain amount of energy to fight for a pound of flesh. You have to make a conscious decision to divert energy from positive pursuits to take on this task and no matter how righteous it seems - it's still negative energy. It's still wasted on looking back. In the end, it's usually better to move forward, I think. It sucks because people so rarely get what they really deserve in situations like this.

I am guessing that at least some of the correspondence from/between OSU and WSU Presidents, ADs, and others won’t be as squeaky clean as we would like. 😐

Everyone has dirty lanudry....but my guess is we have minimal issues in discovery. Time to move on for all 12 schools

"You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Personally, I prefer Dorothy Parker's take - and it may be more topically appropriate: "You can lead a whore to culture but you can't make her think."

I'd fire him/eliminate his position in less than an hour.
