pretty sad state of affairs when Canzano is making sense. olive linkyMaking sense by stating what they've already been doing for some time now? I think his point was to go and sign the majority of the next class out of the JUCO ranks, not 3 or 4. I think he made a suggestion of 9 players.

I could care less where a kid comes from if he can help make the football team better. Never understood why there was a stigma on jucos

Erickson directly infused a renewed and improved team Riley started with critically necessary pieces plucked from the JC. 7 wins, then 11 wins, with a HUGE number of the major contributors being JC transfers.

That's how I took it - we've been supplementing here and there with JCs. I think what we're talking about here is going The Full-Erickson and sending for reinforcements just about everywhere. Definitely made me think of the 2000-era teams: Mitch White, The Presidents, Chad Johnson, Housh, Bennie Johnson and Jermaine Jackson - 2 pretty good blocking TEs, Antonio Battle, CB Terrance Gray, Tevita Moala. I'm probably forgetting a few others.

pretty sad state of affairs when Canzano is making sense. olive linkyK-State recruits JCs quite often. K-State has had some relative success over the years. K-State is similar in school size in comparison with O-State. K-State Coach is a legend, though.

eight Juco players expected for the 2016 recruiting cycle. Six on campus. Two; Hernandez and Savea have made contributions. Juco recruiting, just like HS recruiting is not a guarantee. Chad OchoCinco is less common than Simi NoShow if we look at Juco recruiting across all D1 football. I support Juco recruiting both in regards to program building and giving kids the opportunity college sport should give kids. But the idea it is a magic bullet is a fallacy. Typically half Juco transfers actually make the roster, of them half see PT of them Half make a major difference. Juco recruiting is a magic bullet like, "let's get rid of our coach and run a spread offense, then we'll be good" is a magic bullet. Or how about, "If we demand better we will get better" is a magic bullet. Anybody remember Jessie Williams, stud DT, I thought he was coming to OS, would have been a great fit as a Juco transfer. He went to Alabama and won a national championship.......pretty rusty bullet for the Beavs Canzano made his point, now smart fans can say "I know how OS can be instantly good; recruit Jucos"

I'm not seeing anyone on our current commit list at the moment that looks like they'll come in and push for playing time on the lines by next September.

To be fair, 7 wins, then 11 wins, then 5 wins. I think that's the one knock on loading up on JCs.

Guys on the roster who started at another college or university: Kyle Haley Rahmel Dockery Devin Chappell Darrell Garretson Landry Payne Treston DeCoud Julian Brentley Timmy Hernandez Tim Cook Marcus Greaves Jaylynn Bailey Kieran yancy Ian Crist Kyle White Nick Porebski Ryan Navarro Wesley Payne Sosaia Tauaho Brayden Kearsley Bobby Keenan Quinn Smith Phillip Napoleon Paisa Savea Baker Pritchard
That's 24 guys. Porebski and DeCoud are the only ones that seem to me like they were able to make an "immediate" impact....unless you want to count Navarro as the LS.
What this article is really trying to say is "you need to recruit Chad Johnson, TJ Houshmandzadeh, DeLawrence Grant and LaDairius Jackson."

It's a pretty big recruiting weekend and I believe there are some JUCO's coming in for the game. Hopefully the Beavs leave a good impression! Some how, some way!
Go Beavs!

Every team uses JUCO players it's just rare when you hear them having a lot of success because there are definitely hit and misses. The "hits" though, can be huge for a team that is rebuilding. I personally like seeing us get trench guys (O and D lineman) but next season, our secondary will need a little bit of a boost too. Besides them bringing in experience and some maturity (physically and mentally) they also don't eat up schollies for 4-5 years. Go Beavs!

I'd give him a nod at Immediate impact There are also a few others on that list that have seen decent PT as well. And some of these guys have only played 4 games. TJ, Chad, and The Presidents weren't exactly All Pac10 players 4 games in either. Most JC guys, take 1/2 to a whole year before their impact is felt.

pretty sad state of affairs when Canzano is making sense. olive linkyI know I'll be flamed for this, but I've never understood the hatred for Canzano. He's a columnist, his job is to get people fired up and talking. Do yourself a favor and watch the show on KGW, Sunday night after the NFL game. He kills the Ducks, while poor Joey 5 Picks stands there and tries to defend them.
