They do over one that doesn't see the field! Good. So only positive posts about Beaver players now, right. If not, you’re the biggest frickin hippocrite on this board. Never mind, there’s no chance of that. You might as well leave this board now. You do know your posts often make zero sense, have zero connection, and rarely make sense?! But, as someone already told you... sense of humor... sense of anything is missing! Wow.

A "Beaver homer" thread on an OSU message board. Imagine that. Jacoby did not hurt the Yankees this year. He did not take up a spot in the lineup, on the 25-man active roster, or on the 40-man MLB roster, since he was on the 60-day IL. The Yankees could play a productive player in his place. And as the richest franchise in MLB, they easily had the money to pay him, under the terms of his contract, which they willingly agreed to many years ago. So unless you want to undo centuries of contract law, Jacoby was fully entitled to the compensation he received. Davis did hurt the Orioles this year, and in fact has hurt them considerably over the last several seasons by being a wholly unproductive spot in the lineup while sucking up millions from a franchise with dwindling resources thanks to a monumental decline in home attendance. I don't consider players whose careers were ended by injury as "busts." He could not contribute because of physical reasons. Was Ernie Davis a first-round "bust" because he died before he ever played a down for the Browns? Chris Davis was healthy enough to contribute, but didn't because he just sucks. He's a bust. And the Yankees are not going to win a lawsuit against the Players Association. That's not happening. It's a homer thread... let's go thru all the non Beavers to make big $ and not play up to the $ because of injury... considered a bust. Period. JE had injuries, couldn't play, but when you're paid 9 digits and don't produce, for whatever reason, you're a bust! It's a label not a blame. And, not a Beaver would be labeled a bust in the same situation. But, as I mentioned in the opener, bust is open to wide interpretation. Betting more baseball people than not think JE is a bust. And, certainly those Yankee fans do. Like it or not he'll be considered a bust forever by many no matter what ridiculous crap you post to the contrary. And... Lol... nice try, what big contract did Ernie bust on? Great apples to... what, transit bus comparison. Holy smokes. That should tell you right there when something is a homer thread! Lol... Ernie Davis... wow. PS- simple fact, Chris does suck, but teams still sit or release guys and eat their salary. He produced stats to help the team... Orioles played him. Bust, but actually played. I'm betting probably thru some injuries over the years. PSS- JE was on the 40 man, hence the article and release and the impetus for the entire stupid discussion. You've clearly shown in your "PS's" that you don't understand WAR or MLB roster rules. Simple fact - Chris Davis was worth negative 2.8 WAR in 2018, which means the Orioles could have played a random AAA player over Davis and won nearly 3 more games from that contribution of Davis'. He was stealing a roster spot from a minimum salary player and helping the Orioles lose more. You claim to be a former coach, so you should understand the concept of putting players in a position to succeed. Chris Davis' best position to succeed is anywhere he's NOT taking up MLB ABs or defensive innings on an MLB field. Players on the 60 day IL do not take up space on the 40-man roster. Ellsbury spent the 5 months of the 2018 and the entire 2019 season on the 60 Day IL. At season's end, the 60 day IL ends, so Ellsbury was put back on, which is why he was released to make room for players who would have been subject to the Rule V draft. You should probably not comment on things you don't understand, but that's never stopped you before.

So, as stated he was on the 40 man. Thx for eventually agreeing after a bunch of extra BS that was never part of the discussion nor meaningful. He was on the 40 man as stated in the article, by me and others! Wow! Let's give you a clue about baseball in general... WAR etc. are not a factor as you have to play to create statistical data. Hence, JE vs Davis in that context makes no sense. But, one did have hits, runs, rbi, PO. He contributed. But, pull out some more nonsensical stuff that doesn't apply. Next... Davis doesn't steal a roster spot. The discussion isn't about some random AAA player, but about one who played and one who hasn't for years. Here's another basic for you, Davis doesn't make up the lineup card. If he was wasting a spot the Orioles didn't need to play him. Many teams release players, eat big salaries. Or as the Orioles did play them less while bringing others along slowly. You use a lot of words to show your lack of intelligence on topics you either don't comprehend or want to change the target to try to be right. You kinda border on being embarrassingly neurotic about changing/adding to the issue to try to be right about something. Try less. The rest of us will benefit. The board will have more space. At the same time it'll make absolutely no difference in your attempts at coherent communication. Good luck.

Ellsbury was not on the 40-man during the season. After the season, when 60-day IL players must be restored to the 40-man, he was immediately released. He did not take up space on the 25- or 40-man roster during the season.
Not too hard a concept to understand, even from the self-professed smartest man in the room.

And from the continual dumb arse... he was on the 40 man when released. It is simple. No one said different. Just the excuse makes who later bring in stupid stuff like wasting a roster spot. Guess you and another should be running a MLB team. Yeah... not! Can't even function on a message board. Wow And... really if you and smails are in the room everyone else on this board qualifies for that title. So, I'm just one of many where that standard isn't real high!

Are you really that dense? The discussion was, JE was not on the 40-man during the season, so he did not hurt the Yankees in any way. Not that he was on the 40-man when released.
Davis, however, had a negative WAR. So whatever miniscule offensive contributions he made were offset by his bounty of strikeouts and .170 average. He hurt the Orioles virtually every time he appeared in the lineup.
I feel sorry for kids who had to play under you, if you ever did coach. I have my doubts.

Always making sh!t up, and then when called out on it, you double down on your BS or claim people are moving goal posts. What's clear here is that you have a fundamental lack of understanding of MLB roster rules, but pretend to know what you're talking about. The issue in question was that Harry said Chris Davis took up a roster spot that could have been for a decent player, while Ellsbury did not. This is undeniably true. Ellsbury was on the 60 day IL for the entirety of the regular and post season. The ONLY reason the 60 day IL exists is so that injured players do not count against the 40 man roster. Chris Davis WAS on the Orioles 40 man roster and the 25 man active roster all season, playing worse than an average AAA player would, thereby taking a roster spot from a more deserving player. Just to be as explicit as possible, on October 31, 8 Yankees were dropped from their 40-man roster when they declared free agency. On November 4 all players on the 60 day IL are re-activated and placed on the 40 man roster. No other moves are allowed, so when Ellsbury was on the 40-man roster, he was STILL not blocking anyone like Chris Davis. On 11/20 players must be added to the 40-man or they will be subject to the rule V draft if they meet the criteria. Ellsbury was released at this point, and therefore NEVER stole a roster spot from any deserving player. I won't charge you anything for giving you this remedial course on how 40-man rosters work. Hopefully, you'll use this new knowledge of yours for good in the future, but I expect you'll just continue to make sh!t up and then work as hard as you can to defend your indefensible statements. There's certainly something embarrassingly neurotic going on here, but it's not coming from me.

Actually the discussion... way before you ever entered in... as usual... was bust or not. The rest of the crap was added as usual to try to defend one actually playing, one never seeing the field. But, as usual trying to add to the confusion to yet make no point. So... let's simplify it for you and your cronies... JE is and will always be known as a bust concerning his last contract. Injured, ashame... but doesn't change it. Add all the extra stuff you want. I get it... doubt is and should be part of your life.

Good luck Sorry, baseba1111, you can’t change the narrative, no matter how desperately you try. You were called out for claiming that Ellsbury took up a roster spot. You are absolutely and unequivocally WRONG about that, and any rational human can understand that, and would concede the point. Don’t try and change the issue to whether Jacoby is a bust or not, that’s certainly debatable - a matter of opinion that cannot be proved one way or another. Try to stay on the subject that Ells did NOT take up a roster spot, which has been undeniably proved. You’re out of your element, Donny.

Try to stay on the subject that Ells did NOT take up a roster spot, which has been undeniably proved. You’re out of your element, Donny. Because your too dumb to realize posts stay up... "Definition of "bust" is highly open to interpretation. Chris Davis certainly struggles at the plate, but he is there to play and potentially help your team. $ for $ he's less a bust than a guy collecting a paycheck for the better part of three (will be 4 in 2020) seasons doing nothing to help the team win. Not that the Orioles win..." "Well, if injuries don;t make you a bust, then signing a contract that the Orioles freely offered doesn't either. I may feel like s%#t not playing well for $23 mil/yr, but at least I'm out there competing and providing some help... Since his contract... 520 games... 1800 ABs... 230 R... 92 HRs... 230 RBI... lots of Ks, low BA, but he is playing. Bust? Yep for the $ paid. But, there is no way JE isn't also a bust. And, for the contract vs production, one of the biggest in history." "If you're producing stats you're are potentially helping vs sitting at home." "Not even his. Nor the ones that got him the contract. Another Beaver homer thread. Guy who makes equal or more isn't the bust to the guy actually playing?! Novel... guess Bradford should sit the remaining games? Lol" There you go... my earliest posts that were "called out"... Black and white just how full of BS you are... and how changing the narrative is what you do best! It's in effing black and white and you just blab on. Something seriously missing up there dude. PS- that's being called out! Lmfao
