Solana Beach north of town... easy/cheap train ride with a stop at Old town... has a couple fine establishments and great rentals. Great add to the schedule. Plus it fits perfectly for a significant other's Bday present!!

Solano Beach north of town... easy/cheap train fare to Old town and further... has a few great establishments all in a cozy beach town vibe with great rentals. Great addition to the schedule... plus it fits a certain significant other's BDay and she loves going to that area!! It's Solana Beach. My grandkids go to school there at Santa Fe Christian. I guess Mike Riley lived there while he was head coach of the Chargers. Repaired... thx

Good comments and all true. Hope for the best when it comes to the weather. This past February was the wettest on record. Look forward to having the Beavs in town.

Great thing about SDSU is how the 'Trolley' (light rail) connects it to the rest of the world.
All the way from Santee to La Mesa to SDSU to Mission Valley to Old Town to Downtown is all on one line. Hop on and relax ($6 per day pass / $3 per day pass for seniors). Gives you huge flexibility regarding where to stay.

A 20 min trip (light traffic) to Tony Gywnn is over an hour... bus to transit. I drive! LOL

The blue line takes you to San Ysidro which is no more than 100 yards from the border. Walk across and you can get better Mexican food for a lot less.

Am in SD for the winter, so will be at a couple of the games. If you like Indian food, this place is excellent: himalayancuisineone.com

Am in SD for the winter, so will be at a couple of the games. If you like Indian food, this place is excellent: himalayancuisineone.com Add to that... American, French, fusion... Crown City Inn and Bistro on Coronado. Best kept secret in San Diego. Breakfast, apps, dinner. But, don't tell anyone it's a small place and I don't want to wait! PS... the Inn is fabulous. Quaint, small family Inn, super people, free bikes, nice pool, right in the midst of everything on the island.
