What exactly do we criticize about Wayne's coaching? The body language and the lack of hustle always tells. That is not the problem. Not sure I completely agree with this. The fact that we still can't get guys to move on defense & rotate to the right spot after 30 games definitely speaks to an effort/hustle thing IMO. A bad defense can be an adequate or even above-average with effort and hustle. Maybe WT is preaching defense, boxing out and hustle all day long and it's falling on deaf ears? I have no idea. And I've seen plenty of "body language stuff" at the games I've been to this year. Watch the bench during timeouts. Watch the guys on the wings when we botch a 3 on 1 or 3 on 2. His in game management is definitely baffling - end of the USC game, final possession in regulation vs UW still have me salty.

Every single AD in the country has made a bad hire somewhere along the line. So far Barnes' hires at OSU (men's soccer, T&F, swimming) have all been excellent choices, and I am hearing great things about the new women's soccer coach. Yeah, I was just reading about those on ESPN. Wait, no, no I wasn’t. Sorry. Red herring, non-sequitur, straw man. Take your pick. Every single AD in the country has made a bad hire at some point in his career. The fact Barnes made a bad one at Pitt doesn't mean he'd make a bad one at OSU, especially since his track record at OSU (I forgot about Jonathan Smith, another good hire, I think) has been excellent.

I'm not gonna do a deep dive on all the grievances I have with Tinkle, but the one superficial one that I have is that after EVERY SINGLE BASKET he signals the defense with two fists in the air. We could be losing by 30, they could be raining threes left and right, they could have gotten 18 uncontested lay-ups in a row but god damnit Wayne is sticking with the two fist defense until we are dead.

People are calling for Tinkle to be out, but the AD is advertising this as the one of the greatest seasons in OSU basketball recent history. It objectively is. Not even recent history. like 30 year history. BUT. I was f%#*ing embarrassed by yesterday. flat out embarrassed. we got down by what? 24 f%#*ing points or some s%#t like that in the first half? yeah, great we made a game of it in the 2nd half and got within like 8... whatever. We ended the season losing 5 of our last 7, including 2 in a row at home. 2 at home to not great teams that we should of beat. I am not a #firetinkle guy, but even though this season was our best in some time, it SHOULD OF been better. It ended very negatively, and that stings.

Wayne Tinkle, Big Sky Coach Of The Year! Oh wait, we play in the Pac-12...LOL! The man has had enough time to show his chops. Now we know they are not all that.
As it turns out, the entire Pac-12 coaching ranks could use a thorough enema. How does UW lose to winless in conference play Cal? From top to bottom, our entire conference sucked rutabagas. In the meantime Gonzaga gets the glory while Nevada (not UNLV) snags some sunshine. What happened in the West? It reminds me of when Pac-12 football had sucky seasons while Boise State was the best on this side of the continent.
In a race to the bottom we are as a conference. Leisure Suit Larry, with help from his buddy President Ray, collects a high salary and lives higher on the hog than he deserves while our conference flounders. If we reward failure at the top of the batting order, I guess it is okay to be mediocre in everything else, right?
Thank heavens we have baseball and track, two sports not much of the country cares about at the collegiate level, to hang our conference hats on. Don't forget Cal's rugby team either...LOL!
The Pac-12 is now the equivalent of a rusted out 1973 Buick LeSabre sitting out in a field, where it waits for Ma Nature to finish the job. Oh for the days when that 455 V-8 would put out the torque and waft us down the Interstate in absolute comfort!
The Conference Of Champions. Sigh.

The Conference Of Champions. Sigh. I like this post for both content and writing style. The Pac needs a new commissioner.

I can't take another season. I honestly quit posting and held my tongue. It's time for a change. They need to involve the heavy alumni this time around (if rumors are true they haven't previously w/ old Bobby DeCareless.) You obviously have no clue. They had several former players and alumni on the search committee when Tinkle was hired. More clue than a BDC contract extension. That was his reputation during his tenure. One exception does not make the rule.

They can win a NC with women on the team that didn't even play in High School!

While fans contemplate whether OSU has the right person leading the men's basketball program, they should also give thought to whether they have the right person to lead the search for a new coach.
If you've not already read the stories linked below you should.
Might need to have searches for two leaders.
I'll echo that and include the thought that I've got questions about the "lead dog" after his total support for Scott and the entire Pac12 fiasco. Great leadership academically for the most part, but he too was totally on board with the "The Great GAG"!

Must been quite the covering up for him. I know he comes from the tennis industry, but the life he leads is quite extravagant.

Great leadership academically for the most part, but he too was totally on board with the "The Great GAG"! I'm sad to say that I agree with you. Like some great sports coaches that have stayed on beyond their most productive years, Ed Ray has done exactly that - he should have had his victory lap several years ago and retired on top. His support for Larry Scott and the Pac-12 network debacle is hard to fathom considering that Ray is an economist.
What disturbs me though is the blind support for Scott Barnes by Beaver fans that rightfully have nothing but contempt for GAG. This is a guy who was hired by OSU specifically to keep GAG happy and was the guy who originally hired GAG at Utah State. What is his purpose today other than to tell us that OSU spends more on football than Oregon and Stanford? What a crock?
