Not an expert by any means, but expect it is a function of cvo airport limitations. Runways are pretty short by today's standards (for example, a 737-900 requires over 9000 ft to take off fully loaded) and may not be capable of bearing the load. In addition, TSA infrastructure probably isn't in place. For relatively few flights a year it isn't worth upgrading the airport given EUG and PDX accessibility. This post isn't directed at benny55, more at anyone thinking Corvallis should have a major airport...Corvallis doesn't even have a MOD Pizza, 5 Guys or an indoor mall. The Corvallis metro population is literally only 2000 people higher than that of Grants Pass. And we should have an international airport? No offense but Corvallis really is a relatively small city/town.

Because his team lost to a good SEC team? Please expound. Florida lost 15 games, took eighth place in the SEC, and was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament. It was not a good SEC team. Nevada was the MWC regular-season champion, faded in the final weeks of the regular season, lost in the semis of the MWC tournament and then came out and laid an egg in the NCAAs, falling behind by 18 points. They looked pretty good to me. And Nevada!

Those places have perfected corporate mediocrity. They suck. American dream pizza, McMenamins, New Morning Bakery... vs Apple Bees, MOD pizza, people throwing a slice of american cheese on a burger. Sign me up for more of what Corvallis has. America is heavily infected with pre-made, factory food syndrome. For work recently I had to spend six months in rural parts of the midwest/south. Everytown (5k-30k) had an applebees olive garden, five guys or wafflehouse. Was most unfortunate, hardly any local places. Had to go to bigger towns to get good food. Corvallis is lucky, a lot of great options, imo.

A lot more area in Josephine county If they include all of Josephine Co in the numbers I saw then it would be misleading. If it's largely the Redwood and New Hope and other communities to the south of the river then it might not be. I'm wondering if we were in GP around the same time. I graduated in '76 and spent little time there since. I've spent much time there since the parents hit their 80's. Is a relatively town, but in some ways GP has an as big or bigger business community than Corvallis. It's grown much faster than Corvallis has the last 40 years.

Graduated in ‘88, but had 2 brothers that graduated in the early 80’s. Scott Stauch was my neighbor growing up. One of the best athletes to come out of GP

All I know is that Oregon has as many NCAA tournament wins in the last few years as we do all time. I'm not sure we've reached our ceiling under Tinkle, but I doubt we're far from it. I think the writing is on the wall if we actually want to be a good program, not even elite.

I think the writing is on the wall if we actually want to be a good program, not even elite. Oregon is currently serving probation in 4 sports, including men’s and women’s basketball. Only one other FBS team in the country is under probation in even 2 sports. Uo has been implicated in a recent FBI corruption scandal, accused of offering “astronomical” amounts of money to a recruit. If you look at their history of last minute recruiting coups in recent years, it doesn’t take a lot to put the dots together and be suspicious even if you don’t give much credit to conspiracy theories. If it takes finding ways to skirt the intent of the rules, I’d rather OSU not go there.
