At this point, unless Oregon State wins the Pac-12 Tournament, 22 wins looks like the number to hit. Oregon State's strength of schedule looks bad now, but I think that it will improve as the season progresses. 10-2 looks like a must, though, at this point, if Oregon State wants to get to the Tournament. 10-2 would make it pretty much impossible for Oregon State to miss the NIT, absent a 6-12 or worse conference record. Top seven in the Pac-12 look like they will get invites to the Tournament (top 2-4) or to the NIT (next 3), and, right now, Oregon State has the seventh-best RPI. Kirkpatrick has Oregon State at 69, which is fifth in the Pac-12. A&M #63 Mizz #66 Penn #103 OldD #105 Kent #125 StL #140 Pepp #165 Mizz St #173 Wyom #199 LBSt #266 CConn #285 UC Riv #300 If the Beavers keep it up, they look like they are tracking into the NIT. If the Beavers can win the games that they are supposed to plus a game or two that are currently projected as losses, that is a Tournament resume. But having said that, it is really early to start projecting this all. The next five games are big ones for RPI. Win or lose, Central Connecticut is RPI poison. Then the Pac-12. Just win! i don't think the team will overlook Missou state enough to lose that one at home and then Texas A&M game looms big. Get that one and the ball will be rolling a bit. The Dam City Classic or whatever it is called is a fun game to attend. Hopefully a big portland crowd pushes the beavs over the top. Although that Pdx court has not been friendly since that classic began. Hopefully this game is different.

[/ beavs won last year and the year before unless I'm mistaken 1st year it was Far West Classic Invite or something... won 2. The next year the Damn City Classic... lost both to LBSt and UP (scored 45)... and Tres! Last year down 9 in 2nd half, rallied to beat StLouis by 3 in an ugly game. Capped a 6 game win streak stopped by KentSt the next game. Last season the Kent St loss seemed to wake OSU up. Win over Buffs, 2pt loss to Utes, beat Oregon... 10-5 start. Then lose 6 of 7 before sweeping Washington schools.

IRT the out of conference schedule... You gotta play who is on it, and you still have to win the games. Who made this schedule? Barnes? How long ago? Also it is ridiculously early to start looking at RPIs already to judge SOS.... If Penn wins the Ivy league, then that is a quality win... Regardless. We can't change the schedule now, and wins are wins. SOS will matter if we are a bubble team... so let's just not be a bubble team and be in the top 3 of the Pac-12 Heck... lets win the Pac-12!

Might as well fire him now. 5-1 is unacceptable! I get that some of the concerns that we have seen the last couple of years are still appearing, but are you ready to fire a coach that has been better than the previous coaches for the past 25+ years? It is hard to win here, just look at WSU hiring what appeared to be a proven coach (Kent) and he has had no success there. He will get at least one more year. I edited my response in this response to make it clear I'm talking about a hypothetical situation. If we finish 10th-11th-12th what do we do? But I agree with you - even if for different reasons. Give WT a sixth year (and I'll add enjoy the Women's team this year and look forward to baseball.) As long as we're talking hypothetically, why hot have Coach T take off his clothes and spout aggressive poetry in the middle of a game? What do we do? Fire him? Get him some help? Do we all take our clothes off and spout aggressive poetry (whatever that is) to make him feel included because that's the times we live in? I wish people would wait to go negative until things really go negative. We're sitting at 5 and 1 and have won almost as many road games as the last two seasons combined.

Despite the fact that I would have liked to see more positives from the Beavers in the Long Beach St. win, it is way too early to have any kind of discussion like this especially with the team having a 5-1 record. That said, I think WT will get at least another year (even if Tres doesn't come back) and likely deserves it. Obviously he and Coach Thompson being back solves the problem of a potential ET transfer (though that isn't why I think WT will be back). Actually the guy I'm worried most about transferring is Hollins, which would suck. But his year so far seems eerily like the start of McLaughlin's season last year.

Also a little worried about Hollins play, but not code red by any means - he can certainly help himself some by staying out of foul trouble. I think multiple games he's picked up 2 quick fouls in the first, think he had 4 fouls in 9 minutes vs ODU. But like JMcL last year, he's going to be the 3rd/4th/5th option on offense and you hope he handles that.

McLauglin's leaving had more to do with off the court issues than issues on the court. Not a fair comparison.

Hollins will be fine. He has played well in spurts so far but is still adjusting to a starter role. Jaquori was simply woeful until he transferred. Apples and oranges.

I'm not sure I even know what we have yet with Washington and Campbell. I'd REALLY like to know.... Funny how in my mind's eye coming into the season I had the new "bigs" pegged as 1. Washington 2. Wilson 3. Kelley in terms of expectations. Plus I saw a little of Kelley last year at LCC. Wasn't impressed (now i'm thinking he wasn't healthy). So as suspected, I really know nothing.

As long as we're talking hypothetically, why hot have Coach T take off his clothes and spout aggressive poetry in the middle of a game? I'd love to see him break a huddle after designing a play and yell, "Christ! What are patterns for?" Or, tell his team that we can apply a knockout blow because our opponent is "like a patient etherized upon a table."

This whole thing about the constant yelling. How do you know Wayne isnt yelling at the officials? Here is #36 from my earlier post about the 60 excuses from the dumpster fire season two years ago. I may be drawing too much from this one instance, but it does seem he has yelled at the players during the game to correct specific deficiencies. 36. "It seems like we have to coach every pass on both ends. And that's really tough," Tinkle said. "We'll do it if that's what it takes. But when you get to where you want to be, you can hand that responsibility over to the team and they're the ones that are being vocal as far as calling plays. ... We'll watch and nobody will call to get us into something so we've got to yell something from the bench."
