Announced almost a week ago on signing day... and for what it's worth we signed two PGs this year/class of '18. We go from no PG/convert a SG... to (2) that hardly play (a bit more for Vernon lately)/convert another SG... to having (4) on the roster in '19... Maybe one turns out to actually get starters minutes...

He’s another combo guard at this point.

Have to remember that Vernon and Campbell were late pick ups On paper the two new signees should be an upgrade-- especially Hunt over Vernon. Now have to see how things play out.
In a normal year, I'm not sure if Vernon is even signed -- another reason he reminds me of Stacy. But with the transfers and need I think they took a chance. Hopefully he can develop and become a good 4-year player for Beavers. How much he or Campbell can help this year remains to be seen. But I've seen some in here call for them to start and that is crazy. I'm hopeful we can get some big leads in some upcoming games to see what they've got and get their legs under themselves. I especially want to see more of Campbell.

Judge, is your Campbell assessment based on what you're seen of his play or more how he's been used? He was billed as a combo guard coming out and I haven't really seen him play PG, but wondering if you've seen more of Campbell than his limited game experience.
One of the new signees Lucas is also billed as a combo. Given I think I read he scored 50 recently, he's at best a score first PG. Hunt is listed as PG, and tape I'm seen supports that.

The other two signed last week on signing day, so OSU didn't announce all three until yesterday.

It's just what I've seen from the limited minutes, the scrimmage and 1 practice. He is very athletic, but raw and I don't think he handles the ball well enough to play PG. He can drive to the basket, but it seems to be only with the intent of scoring. He doesn't look to dish when he's driving.
Vernon has been very tentative when he's been in. Hopefully, they can get him some more minutes so he can get used to the level of play. Vernon plays decent D for a frosh, but they are not going to play him much if he can't show some confidence and run the show a little better when he is in the game.

But, the sporty pages and this site had the complete details, including when Hunt was signing. Just nice to try and keep multiple threads for the same topic from popping up all over...

Maybe one turns out to actually get starters minutes...My biggest conspiracy theory involves Elon Musk and his fascination with power storage, below ground boring and space travel (see Neal Stephenson's "Seveneaves" for more on that). Right behind it, and more pertinent to this thread, is a conspiracy that the way we landed the coaches kids is an agreement that says they can do as many dumb things out there on court that they want, take wild 3s as early in the clock as they desire, play matador defense to heart's content, not pass to open teammates not related to the coaching staff..........but they will never sit, get yanked, yelled at, etc. :-). [NOTE - some of what I just said was tongue-in-cheek]. If you subscribe to that conspiracy, it might be a long while before we have a PG not named Ethan. Of course, a more rational explanation is that ET will slide over to SG when his brother departs, giving us a year to get the current crop of potential PGs ready, and have even more options with next year's class. But we aren't doing much to get this current crop ready for much of anything thus far, though in all fairness, there haven't been many blowouts, and the season is still young. Go Beavers!

Next year may be interesting in a not so good sort of way. I just looked at Tres T's bio and he turned 19 right after he graduated high school. I don't think he is going to do his fifth lap of Corvallis next year. I know the family is very close so that helps the odds that he sticks around, but I'd bet against it.

Unless he really REALLY blows up this season, like averages 30+ pts 10 rebounds and 5 assists a game in conference... Which is not impossible, otherwise he isn't cracking the top 100 prospects, let alone the top 60... He could also go the europe route, etc. Of course coming back for his senior year doesn't really get him much either, except another pull at the deck for a "special" season (both in terms of going bonkers statistically for draft help, but also special in terms of winning, helping his dad not get fired, making a run at the pac-12 title, or player of the year, or whatever, etc.). Of course I don't get the feeling from Tres that he is super hot to trot to move on, like Eubanks was, so sentimental reasons may be more than enough to keep him here for his final season. The G-League will be there in 2020, just like it will be there at the end of this season... Of course what we really hope for is a National Player of the year type year out of Tres this season leading to a NCAA Tourney bearth and then a mircle tourney where we win the championship and he gets drafted in the first round Go Tres! Go Beavers!

Go Beavers! Drew just didn't like school. I don't think that is the case with Tres, but remember this is his 4th year due to the injury/redshirt. There are not a lot of D-1 players that stay for 5 years.
I would be thrilled if he stayed, but I'm not counting on it.

I am not sure how to answer / reesearch this question. But anecdotally I would assume that there are more 5th year seniors playing D1 basketball than one and dones... The vast majority just don't have a chance at bball post college, so they play as much college ball as is allowed... I am sure you are correct though, odds are probaby still higher he leaves. Selfishly I hope he stays. Go Beavs
