Baseba111- Nonsense is critiquing rotations in GAME #1. If you did coach at high level, then you would know you can't worry-control fans like you. All I said is I will critique- judge a season when there is a body of work. Game #1 with a new team is not. But yes..... your correct. There are fans like you that do & you totally have that right 2 have that opinion. Keep being passionate about the BEAVS & posting! I'm looking forward 2 seeing your expertise Do you truly read others posts? Do you read yours? Do you have a comprehension issue? Again... to try and simplify for those that need it... commenting on game 1, game 2, game 21 and comparing to past performances (player or coach) is in no way commenting on a "season". Nor making a predictive statement. And, is simply (thought you'd get simple) conversation about what was seen vs what has been past practice. It's like normal board conversation. It's kinda the same of noticing a player's improved skill or build. Doesn't mean it will carry over to a season of promise, just conversation. To your other random comment. Who, anywhere, mentioned WT or any other coach being concerned or try to "control" (what?) what message board posts or posters? WTF?? If us, other posters, have the right (gee thx for recognizing that... lol) then why the initial post stating exactly the opposite? Random or hypocritical seems to be your forte. Yeah... keep posting, cuz either you have small feet or large mouth. You mentioned - that I looked at message boards or tried to control the narrative when I coached. Nope... you learn early in your career you don't have time 2 worry about fans expertise like yours

Fun game to watch and a good win. Nice to see Hollins have a good game -- seemed much more active from the get go; though Ethan took a bit of a back slide. Wasn't very impressed with Vernon. He reminded me of Stacy a bit. But he is only a freshman, so hopefully he can improve as he gets his legs under him.
Next game should give us a little better read on Kelley. Old Dominion has two 7-footers. Don't have great stats or see a lot of time, but we'll be able to see if Kelley's great game was because of the competition.
Looking forward to going 3-0.

The hope is that Old Dominion will be equally or more inflicted. paradise for coaches and players maybe not so much for fans watching at home

If you're there, catch the boat over to St. Johns when not watching basketball. St. Thomas is set up for fleecing cruise ship tourists, St. Johns has been kept fairly pristine (at least it was 10 years ago). Haven't been to St. Croix.

ODU plays more methodical which was a trademark of their coach at Virginia. They are mainly a 4-guard lineup, 6'2"-6'6", that gets the minutes. A couple of All-Conference types in Caver and Stith (his Dad, Bryant is an asst, former 13th overall pick from Virginia who played for Jeff Jones). Caver was named one of 20 watch list candidates for the 2019 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award. A team that doesn't shoot it that well, but is athletic and doesn't turn it over much. It seem we'd have an advantage inside with TT, KK, Big G. Their four main guys looked very athletic vs St Joes (ODU lost 79-64) and I'm not seeing an advantage in the outside play/athleticism. They have shot the "3" around 36-38% over the last couple years, four players at 35-43% so far after two games. But, the are actually shooting the "3" at a better rate than overall (38% vs 36%). Both 7-footers are transfers. The Sr from LSU where he barely saw the court in 3 years. The Soph is from Providence I believe... also barely saw the floor. Both are similar to our young bigs in that they are about D and boards, any points are gravy. I'd say from a brief look people see "ODU"/C-USA and think this should be a double digit win. But we travel further/3 times zones vs no time change and we've struggled vs small athletic lineups as we don't really have an established inside game. The key isn't travel, it's that ODU is also an established winner under former Virginia coach and player Jeff Jones, 25-7/15-3 last year and 96 wins over the last 4 years (96-40). They've had 25 wins three of the past four seasons, and have a very good veteran PG running the show who is very solid on D. Never been a good sign for this team to face. I do not care what rating systems may say, this would be a huge win for WT and OSU.

If you, like I, have coached at said high level you'd know that what "evolves" is a product of what we've seen from said coach. As stated by many here, what we've witnessed is following the same "patterns" we've seem before. No prognostications of a failed season. For those who've watched closely, coached at a "high level" or not, it's pretty basic info. And... again you've fallen into the "expert" in all things message boards. Lol... you seem to know when simple black and white electronic messages make someone "testy" or that you have the superiority to tell others they need to "take it easy". Join "club Kreskin"... you have become one of the inane posters who think they actually "know" other posters emotions and persona from these anonymous posts. It's a small group, it's early on for you, but you seem to fit right in with that group. Look forward to seeing more of your judgmental prose in how we BEAVS "should" act and think... guess that's what the moniker indicates. 🍻 Baseba1111 goodness man.... your right. Keep sharing your expertise in coaching college basketball, building a culture of a program, rotations and playing time and X & O's. Y'all... I think we have found the Beavers new coach after winning our 1st two games If you have coached at a higher level like I (above high school) then I bet you appreciated insights of fans that shared such unique wisdom like yourself on message boards. Critisism comes with the territory in D1 athletics for coaches. All coaches know this and accept it. They understand that fans will question your rotation in game #1, have better ideas about running an offense and developing a program even if your 2-0. Stay hot!! 1111 is so hot as coach.... he spends all his time posting here.... Lucky to have him To straighten all us doobs right.

I did learn how to use the quote function/correct window early on. So, posting is easier (for some) than coaching. And, do they still smoke "doobs"? 🍻

I coached hoops in a level above high school. Frat intermurals player/coach of the decade. Were you in charge of our football team too? As I remember they were pretty good too. Guess you can bring lots of insight to multiple boards. Back to back All University Champs, but I can’t take too much credit fot that. Our QB was the man.

You get fired, or retire on top? After 10 seasons, I was out of eligibility. This brings up a memory. In the mid-eighties the rule for intramural was you were not eligible to play if you had played that sport at the varsity level the year before or two years before. Jaime Stangel played for Ralph Miller from the 79-80 year through the 83-84 year. I think he was the second big off the bench in the 80-81 season. Anyway, in his eighth year at Oregon State, 86-87, he played intramural basketball.

I played against Chad Scott prior to his playing days. He then went on to flunk out after a couple years and rob the pizza delivery man at his own house.
