How does our 2-year record of 109-17-1 stack up in the history books? Is there a better record from a program over a 2-year period? To limit this to a reasonable data set, are there any prior national champions with a better winning percentage over 2 years?

Yeah, the Google summary from wikipedia hadn't been updated since the championship series. So there's one more loss as well. 111-18-1 is the actual record over the last two years.
85.4% winning percentage over 2 years. Wondering how that stacks up historically. I'd imagine somebody got into the 90s at some point, but who knows?

Yeah, the Google summary from wikipedia hadn't been updated since the championship series. So there's one more loss as well. 111-18-1 is the actual record over the last two years. 85.4% winning percentage over 2 years. Wondering how that stacks up historically. I'd imagine somebody got into the 90s at some point, but who knows? I believe that 111-18-1 is a .858 winning percentage. To my knowledge, the winningest team over a two-year period was Arizona State in 1972 and 1973. The Devils went 123-14 (.898) in 1972 and 1973. What is astounding to me is that Arizona State's two postseason losses in both 1972 and 1973 were to USC, the second coming in the Championship Game each time. USC went 101-24-1 (.806) over the same two-year period. To my knowledge, the second-winningest team over a two-year period was Texas the next two years, 1974 and 1975. The Longhorns went 110-14 (.887) in 1974 and 1975. Texas finished fourth in 1974, being eliminated in two games by USC. The Trojans won the National Championship in 1974 with a 50-20 (.714) record. Cal State Fullerton won the 1975 West Regional to advance to their first College World Series in school history, helping to eliminate the defending champion Trojans early. The Titans bowed out in two games in Omaha. Texas lost to Arizona State but won three straight elimination games, including two to runner-up South Carolina to win the Longhorns' third National Championship and first in 25 years.
