Did the Arkansas mass have to return home last night? Actually being serious. Several thousand empty seats. Odd.

As seen on their fan board: “ just let Rutschman jog to first when he comes out of the dugout- easier on our pitchers” as well as similar versions of the same line on different threads!

One of the main points that Arkansas fans are making (in a sour grapes frame of mind) is that Casey is a monster for over-using Abel...
...and that his career (Kevin's) may be adversely impacted by the roughly 247 pitches that he threw in the past 6 days. Thoughts?

Thoughts? Abel wasn’t used like a weekend starter all season long. Heck, there were weeks he didnt see the mound. If it was Fehmel or Heimlich, that would be a different story. Add to it, he wasn’t throwing anything overpowering mid to upper 90s. And the lack of curves saved his wrist from more stress.

Yeah, that's interesting thing not being talked about too much, but there's an important story there. The first game was rain delayed, obviously.....well, those Arkansas fans only had hotel reservations for the first couple nights I'm told...there was some massive convention in Omaha beginning today, and there were no rooms around. So a lot put all their marbles in the Hogs finishing things off last night, and we all know how that went down. An interesting factor that may or may not have played into things tonight.

And Able said it was the easiest pitching he has ever done. He wasn't tired or sore or anything.

Casey mentioned in the post=game presser that a lot of his pitches were change-ups and they do not put a lot of stress on the arm.

Thoughts? Fans of all persuasions said that same thing after Jonah Nickerson threw 323 pitches in 8 days in 2006. Jonah had a massive lower body and was able to pitch so much due to the power in his legs. Abel doesn't look like the same build to me but the ESPN announcers said the endurance was coming from his legs and footwork.
I can't pretend that I didn't think Abel should come out, but I also know that the coaches have to listen to what the player is saying and how his control and velocity look. Abel kept telling the coaches that the pitching was easy and he was not tired. He never lost his control and his velocity actual went up near the end.
So, yeah, sour grapes.

The Arkansas fanbase should go back home and practice getting drunk, falling down and calling hogs for three straight days. They fell way off their game today, no endurance.

I try not to get all caught up in the sec vs p12 bs and as sec teams go, Arkansas's coach and team are hard to dislike. F' espn and their self serving coverage, hey that's America they want to make money. Can't blame them, but I can listen to MP instead and enjoy it even more.
We've had plenty of seasons the last 9 or so years that didn't end the way we wanted. Some more painfully than others so I sympathize with a good group of players and coaches at Arkansas and the many good fans they have too and don't pay much attention to their degenerate fans all that much. That was a tough way for them to go out last night after a pretty brilliant game for the most part.
That said, this Arkansas post really captured the essence of game 3 for me. "4 runs really isn’t that many but it feels like a lot when you can’t get on base."
