Yikes! Our team is having another great year, but in our two losses in conference play, we have been ugly!
I realize that there have been lapses and inconsistency even in several of the wins, but against UCLA and Stanford on the road, they have fallen behind early and then looked sloppy, slow and lethargic. It hurts to get boat-run, and although this shouldn't hurt our positioning much for the tournament, it's hardly a good omen to stink like they did at this point.
ASU will now win the league, despite the fact that we crushed them in Corvallis. The difference for them was taking care of business on the road in Palo Alto.
Pretty disappointing showing tonight. Now there's a short turnaround and they play a bad Cal team on Sunday. They'd best figure things out and leave no doubt from the opening tip.
We're blessed to have such a good coach and a national program, but now I'm hungry to see us nudge to the next level. I hope they catch fire and go deep in the tourney, but with the more dynamic athletes they are challenged, and you know that they'll face plenty of them in the Dance!

Stanford played a great defensive game, and totally frustrated us in the paint. That forced a lot of shots from the outside and took us out of our game. Reminded me of what we did to ASU when they came to Gill.
Make no mistake, Stanford has a great winning tradition. There is a good reason OSU has never won at Maples. That said, I agree with you that it was a disappointing loss. If you think we hate it, imagine how the gals feel tonight knowing they lost the Pac-12 title.

Stanford played incredibly well - they played like the team that beat UConn at Maples last season. That said, OSU again looks like a team that doesn't know how to respond when the frantic defensive energy levels seen in March appear - they still don't seem to understand how to really take advantage of aggressive defensive play (ball fakes, not telegraphing passes, back doors, etc). And, well, a ~20% shooting percentage gap is going to get your tail whipped regardless.

This certainly not a slam on the current players. But, they are the "first step" in becoming an elite program. From their beginning I believe they have exceeded all expectations concerning the level they are leaving this program.
As much as personally respect and love all that these seniors have done, the talent level must rise. In just 4 short years the talent level in women's hoops has skyrocketed.
SR and staff have their work cut out. Not only do you need to sign talent but young ladies who have the drive and determination to overachieve as these seniors have.
We have reached the upper level of the Pac 12, but we're still not the best program. Then you have to stay there. Then be able to compete yearly on a national level.
These seniors were absolutely incredible no matter what happens the rest of the year. I'd love to see at least "Sweet 16", but match-ups can be a real determinate.
The hard work has just begun... for this and future years.
