More general comments about player improvement during this past season...
Not going to fill the page with stats, numbers, %s that are readily available on the Beaver website....
Just some of my personal observations of a general nature....
Pivec did not improve overall as much as Tudor because she started the season at a higher level of proficiency on all of the skills that Coach demands of her....She had an excellent rookie season, and her sophomore season was even better....
Mik's biggest challenge was to learn to run the point - a tough job that she started to excel at by mid-January..Every opposing coach knew she was not a true point guard, but in the latter part of the season no one (except Louisville) caused her much distress....Her improvement at point guard - considering where she started - was, in my view excellent...
She protected the ball at the point, lowered the height of her dribble, and kept the offense operating efficiently and effectively...
Her shot remained solid all season, and that does not always happen to point guards. For some reason running the offense reduces shooting percentage among a LOT of point guards.....
Pivec was a beast on the boards this past season, an improvement on an already top notch freshman season. I believe she is generally regarded as the best rebounding guard in the Pac - and if she played small forward she would do very well at that position.
Her defense was good, not excellent. She really uses her strength on D., she muscles and she bangs. She's not a bruiser, she's not burly, but for WBB she's pretty darn close.
I believe she will play 30 minutes a game next year....Like Katie Mac she does everything very well and some things superbly...
She and Katie are the 2 best all-around players returning from last season....I don't know if captains have been selected for next season, but my guess is that Mik will be one of them....I don't think any team in the Pac has 3 starters returnjing next season who are the equal of Tudor, Pivec & Katie Mac....
Gotta go...Computer timing out on me.....
GO BEAVS !!
