It's pretty wild to lead virtually the entire game, yet feel very fortunate to win the game. Props to the freak athleticism of the Huskies and great shooting and effort by Andrews for them.
Stevie delivers again. That kid has ice in his veins. That game-winner was as tough of a shot as you'll find that still falls under the category of a legit look. Maybe the only tougher one was Tres' almost-three moments earlier that gave us a chance.
For as much as all of our upper-class men seemed to wilt, our freshmen stepped up with poise and determination. This win was on them! Tres and Stevie are by far the most intellegent players on the team (reinforcing the old "Coach's kid" persona) and Drew was a beast on a night when we really needed him to be one.
I love GP2, and his dad is one of top 5 all-time favorite players at any level. He's a star sheet filler and massively athletic. Unfortunately, his calm and deferring personality result in him not always being as aggressive as I would like. GP was as competitive and fiery as they come - that senior year, he almost single-handed lay won us 10 games on come from behind fashion. He just took over - the USC game being the most incredible - but one of many examples of him putting the team on his back and challenging anyone to stop him. GP2 was off at the line and it nearly cost us, but I was most disappointed that he didn't take Andrews out of it down the stretch. Sometimes I'm not sure he realizes just how good he can be!
Bottom line: huge win tonight. Gotta get the Cougs and Trojans and keep this thing alive!
