1) I was VERY glad to see Minnie stay in the winners bracket (at the Minneapolis regional) last night after they defeated UCLA 3-2 in 10 innings. Hopefully the gophers can take their regional today and, assuming we also win out, we'll see them here at Goss next week for our Super Regional. I want NO part of UCLA again next week..IMO that team is just plain scary and could beat anyone in the country on a given day. FWIW, if Minnie does come out here, it'll be an All-Rodent Super Regional...maybe an NCAA tournament first? BTW, did you know that there was a bear-sized, North American Pleistocene beaver (Castoroides) that weighed in at about 500lbs., reached nearly eight feet in length and had six-inch long incisors! Definitely not something you'd want to run into in a dark alley some night. Maybe we could transform wussie Benny into something more like THAT?!
2.) At Palo Alto last night, Stanford lost to Cal St. Fullerton, 2-1 on a 9th inning, walk-off homer. FWIW I'm really not that surprised that 'Furd's in trouble in their own regional. Fullerton's a very good squad (we saw that when were here last March) and, I just don't think that Stanford's quite the dominant team they're widely assumed to be -- e.g., they lost 6 of nine games this season to the top teams in the PAC (UCLA, OSU, UW) and just barely managed to win the PAC title (on a last-minute, ninth inning rally).
3.) Also, I'm not too surprised that UW's in the driver's seat in their regional. That's a solid, balanced team that seems to be peaking at just the right time. I just wish their Head Coach weren't such a jealous creep.

Stanford and UCLA have great talent, but I don't think they play as a team. Which makes them both dangerous and inconsistent
IMHO That is the big difference for OSU this year over last. This years team is truly a bunch of guys who like each other and play as a team. You can see it in the way they talk and act. Gretler, Madrigal and others run a tight ship. Lots of veteran leadership There will be no dope smoking or other getting into trouble until after the Omaha dogpile
