I must admit i was very surprised. I guess I was too negative about the quality of the pitching, but an ERA over 6.00 for the starters is scary. Casey and Yeskie are being given the benefit of a doubt, based upon their past performance.
So, my apologies to the team, for being a Negative Nancy. It's a long season. One weekend down, many more to go.
I also can't help but notice that hole has vaulted into the top 10. I guess Horton is also getting the benefit of a doubt. D1 baseball says hole has one of the top closers in the country. Can't help but think of "Wild Thing" Jimmy Sherfy, and what we did to him in Eugene in 2013. Now that was fun. The CW is going to be epic. Nice that ESPNU has picked up two of those games. You can be sure my signs will be making a CW appearance, including the slightly controversial DDD. I can feel the hatred flowing already. FTd!

It's so early in the season. Nice the Beav's got the benefit of the doubt. This team will gel into a very good one as the year progresses!

The arms will be fine. There are just too many top quality arms in the mix. Yeskie will find the rotation and the "fit" for the middle relievers. One weekend does not a season make, especially not an opening weekend.

I wasn't surprised that the Beavers didn't drop in ranking. It's very common for teams to lose only one game and not drop. I was surprised, however, that pitching was not strong over the opening weekend. The good news is hitting was even better than I would have expected. Impressive performances by the freshmen right at the start of the season.
