I like him as reliever. So you can use him over several outings. Go long if you need him to backfill some innings

Start someone else and bring Able. He seems to pitch better when not starting a game this year.

Let him close he did it fits him better or he will be 2 innings of johnny Allstaff IMO. he just has not had it a second time threw the line up against decent hitting.

He's been good for 4 innings as a starter - it's pushing him into the 5th that has been the rough patch, but the mojo is building. Start him.

Is that what you are saying? maybe so but next time the beavs run into an Oh Shlt moment and need a couple outs to lock it down i will be happy to see Abel. Start with your best, finish with your best.

Is that what you are saying? maybe so but next time the beavs run into an Oh Shlt moment and need a couple outs to lock it down i will be happy to see Abel. Start with your best, finish with your best. Because of the "save" stat, managers often manage to the stat instead of managing to the situation. Saving your "closer" til the 9th inning of a game within 3 runs is an idiotic way of managing a pitching staff - especially when he could simply be facing the 7-8-9 hitters. Your "closer" should be used in situations where there are guys on 2nd & 3rd with 2 outs and you are facing the meat of the opponent's batting order or other "high leverage" situations. Instead, we've been conditioned to expect the "middle relief" guys to appear in those situations merely because of the fact they are not in the 9th inning. This is all a result of the "closer" being defined as a 9th inning guy, and the "save" being a stupid statistic with arbitrary criteria as its basis. So, if Casey is going to use Abel as his "clean up an Oh Shlt moment, regardless of inning", that's great. If he's going to use him like an MLB "closer", then no.

No, that is what we use Mulholland for
